It was so normal.

I think he was fresh out of college when he dug those tapes back up from the back of his closet, which contradicts evidence that points to him being twenty seven, but fuck that, he doesn't look that old. He is still a wee petit babby, everyone else can go home. He wasn't sure exactly what he was going to do now that he was out --and honestly, who does? -- but he had some options he was looking into.

He had a small circle of friends, which was okay with him. No crazy parties; just get togethers where theyd play shitty games and nonshitty games and basically act like dorks. He had tried to keep up with Alex after the transfer out of state, but Alex never replied, so eventually Jay gave up. It hurt at first, especially since he had seen how bad off Alex had been, but Jay had no choice but to settle into occasionally vaguely worried territory.

He got along pretty well with them. He was never a problem child or anything. They were a little :/ about him going into film because how is he supposed to make a living like that??? but they knew that's what he loved doing and things would work out somehow.

He still gets calls and emails from them. He always lets them sit in his inbox or go straight to voicemail. He can't bring himself to read or listen to any of the messages, but he can't delete them, either.

I don't think he thought much of it. He'd play the occasional horror game and watch really terrible B-films for fun with friends, but it wasn't really a big interest of his. Horror movies don't do much for him anymore, but the one he absolutely cannot finish is The Strangers.

okay serious answer: student loans I guess???? he has some money leftover from college and he's been stretching it as much as he possibly can, hence that sad and pathetic week he spent in his car while he waited for alex to contact him. for a while he was still occasionally sleeping in there to save on hotel costs, but that stopped after he saw that video of hoody filming him while he slept.

random fact: he doesn't have nearly enough money to travel around and stay mobile in cnc, and this fact is slowly driving him bonkers.

okay the funny answer here is that jay was, is, and forever will be single, but I think he has dated before! (cue gasps of shock!!!!) not a whole lot of people, of course, but he's not the guy on /r9k/ asking how to relationships. he was always a quiet guy, but he didn't become really socially retarded until the mess with the tapes began, with all the stress and lack of trust that brought with it.

he does like jessica in that "wow this girl is pretty" sort of way, but mostly what he feels is guilt guilt guilt, because while he blames alex for her disapearance, she never would have been in this situation at all if it hadn't been for him. he will do a lot of crazy things to get her back and protect her.

god i actually don't... know...... how much ev has watched, i mean obviously being in the city he hasn't seen the last few entries, but i'm honestly not sure about before that! i'm kind of caught between following it aptly in case jay finds a 'cure' or something, or having dropped it because lol why does he need to watch somebody ELSE'S life get ruined by this he has front row seats already

but either way the schadenfreude was probably a big reason why HE got into it in the first place, at least

the other boys probably liked the mystery while ev was just oh cool a horror show SNORT WOW THIS LOSER IS SO FUCKED
