TEST DRIVE MEME
Are you thinking about apping to to Cape & Cowl, but you want to get a feel of the setting and how your character will fit in it? Then you’ve come to the right place! Pick any of the following scenarios below or feel free to make up your own, and don’t be afraid to throw yourself at anyone’s thread, either!
And remember to have fun!
1. As you exit the Porter Building, the ambient noises you heard, so faint back inside where you found yourself at the center of glowing platform alone – save for the black screen and the female voice who greeted you – erupt in every direction. Every corner you look is bustling with people and cars and bicycles; people going about their everyday life, unaware you’re one of them: an imPort.
2. Or perhaps your bizarre behaviour or appearance catches their attention. Maybe it’s the communicator you picked up before leaving. Either way, several Cityzens headed your way come to a full stop immediately, each one eyeing you differently. Some looks outright afraid, others seem intrigued, and then there are the others whose surprise fades quickly and they carry on past you without as much a second glance.
3. Confused? The Network seems like a good place to start with soliciting information. There appear to be three functions for you to access: AUDIO, VIDEO, and TEXT. Make some friends while you’re at it!
4. Maybe you’re just thrilled to be here and help. The night time is a great time to scope out the underbelly of the City and its criminals. There’s always something going on in its more troubled corners: breaking and entering, drugs or arms trafficking, an attempting kidnapping... the list goes on. The question is: what will you do, Hero?
5. Make up your own scenario, if you wish! You may have discovered the Porter has granted you the ability to make it hail cats. Or that your power of super speed is gone entirely. Maybe you’ve noticed the Statue of Liberty’s sporting a new look.

[This place seems suspiciously like Earth. Groot has been to Earth before.
More times than he would have liked, to be perfectly honest. What had started as a simple mission to retrieve test subjects from earth had turned into a long series of fights, captures, escapes, and inevitable recaptures. It had taken years for him to get off of this planet the first time.
And while Earth is still technically part of the galaxy he was supposed to be guarding, Groot is still less than pleased to be brought here without his consent. A quick survey of the surrounding area shows that the other Guardians of the Galaxy are nowhere to be found, which means that Groot is on his own, for now at least.
Groot walks parallel to the streets of this city, looking for a familiar face or a spare spaceship that someone left lying around. This garners him quite a few annoyed glares, as he can be a difficult obstacle to get around. These earth sidewalks are entirely too small, if you ask him.]
I am Groot... [He mutters under his breath. ]

Then again, maybe not: he's seen stranger things, if he has to be honest with himself, but he likes to avoid that when he can.
So, he plans to walk right by, but then he hears the creature mutter. Mistaking it for a deliberate address, he stops to arch an eyebrow at him. ]

He looks over the man before him. Another imPort, maybe? The only way to know for sure is to ask.]
I am Groot?
[Groot has such a way with words.]

[ He really shouldn't have stopped to chat. ]

I am Groot? [He points to Frank.]
This is the best CR I've ever had.
[ He isn't entirely sure what the Thing is trying to imply by pointing at him and saying that, but he's just going to deny it right off the bat. ]
No. Definitely not 'Groot.'
[ Whatever the hell that meant. ]
Same.
Groot shakes his head again. Maybe he needs to explain it using the exact same words, but with a different inflection.]
I am Groot. [He points to himself, nodding yes.
He gives a very intentional pause, and then he points back to Frank.]
I am Groot.

Well, he has learned one thing: he is Groot.
Possibly. Maybe.
Yeah. This is getting nowhere fast. ]
I think your translator is a little faulty.

[Groot didn't even know he was supposed to get a translator.]

[ Why is this even happening. ]
I think you should go back to the Porter and get that looked at.
[ Come to think of it, is he even being understood? Who can tell? It is a mystery. ]
BFFs in the making, i can already tell.
He can understand your stupid earth language just fine, it's not his fault that you're too dense to understand the subtle intricacies of his own glorious words. Maybe you should go to the Porter and get your ears checked out.]

[ This is going to get old fast. Frank glances around, but he doesn't seem to find anyone nearby to dump the creature off on.
That's just great. ]

He's not some sort of imbecile, you know! He doesn't need someone to hold his hand. Groot is the scion of a royal sap-line, and has recieved the finest education available from some of the most gifted tutors on his planet. He's one of the Galaxy's foremost experts on quasi-dimensional super-positional engineering.
He's pretty sure he can find his own way around this d'ast earth city. Thanks.]
