on this edition of questions you all want to teal deer about...

how does your character react to physical contact? this can be anything from fist fights to sex to brofists. what are they most comfortable with? how to they react to unexpected touches? what sorts of physical contact are they most likely to dish out? do they only let some people touch them or are they more of the tactile, i didn't get hugged enough as a child sort?

give me your thoughts, gds.

Deadpool loooves physical contact. It usually means someone is paying attention to him. BDb Occasionally, it even means sex (sometimes, even when it shouldn't)!

Namor doesn't mind it, but by god you better be worthy of touching his royal person if you're going to do it without getting thrown across the room for your trouble after. (Busty blondes are all worthy btw.)

Billy adores physical contact. Since he was kicked out by his horrible uncle and homeless after the age of like... eight or something ridiculous, he's been affection starved for a good chunk of his life. He's very tactile and isn't particularly aware of how always being willing to hug it out might speak to his masculinity. BY CONTRAST he gets extremely awkward around women that don't know his secret identity. For obvious reasons.

The Midnighter is uh... not a fan. He doesn't mind (and is actually quite fond of) contact with a) fambly, b) teammates, c) kids. With anyone else, his fight implants automatically perceive them as threats and go crazy with stats and all the possible futures in his head, which is fine he can deal with that but it's not exactly relaxing.

Oh look at all this headcanon time.

Okay, so Jade grew up on an island almost completely alone, with only a dog to keep her company from when she was really young. So I've always assumed that she really craves human contact, which is why in the City she's constantly hugging people, or holding someone's hand when she's walking somewhere, or just reaching out to touch their arm every so often. Part of this is also because dogs don't really have personal bubbles, at least not with their owners, and so Jade just doesn't instinctively know that the first greeting you give someone isn't a big hug when you barely know them.

The problem with this, of course, is that a lot of Jade's close CR doesn't so much do the whole touch-y feel-y thing. She can hug and cuddle with John and he'll pretty much reciprocate, but Dave, Rose and Karkat are not tactile people at all. And her in game CR, like Damian and Draco and Onyx and etc, pretty much react the same way.

HER LIFE IS HARD.

Also I think if she went back to the island right now somehow, just being able to reach out and touch people would be one of the things she missed the most.

Well, Lua's pretty much okay with anything as long as it comes from Ladd. If it's someone else she wouldn't be so sure what to do. Other than let them hug her or hold her hand or whatever. She just wouldn't give much in return.

She's just not a very touchy person, in all her scenes she's never been the one to initiate contact and when she does get it she's pretty passive about it. This could just be because they're in public so I think when they're in the privacy of their home she wouldn't be quite so reserved about being affectionate.

And now the other two.

Alastair's habits are mostly headcanoned based on his personality. He's no more or less tactile than most average modern-day people - only really touchy-feely when flirting or with very close friends/family. He really will keep his hands to himself for the most part, and doesn't like strangers touching him if it seems like they're trying to be overly-friendly. He has a lot of trust issues so anyone trying to touch or hug him that he doesn't trust is probably going to get shoved away. By contrast, anyone he really cares about can get inside his guard and expect slightly more tactile contact. Flirting is entirely on his terms - if he decides it's going well and wants to be successful, he'll touch more, but if he withholds physical contact and only flirts with words and looks, it means he's out of your reach and you can't have him. He doesn't like women touching him generally, since he really didn't have any female presence in his life after his mother died. He's also NOT a fighter, even though Hiruma taught him a few things so he could defend himself in a pinch, so he's not very strong and has a glass jaw. Easy to knock over.

Geddoe is, as you might think from his personality, not a touchy-feely guy in the least. He doesn't like to be touched by anyone, and even the handful of people he considers friends, he probably won't touch much if at all (though if they, say, set a hand on his arm, he wouldn't throw them off). No hugging, no physical expressions of warmth. It's rather rare that he will offer tactile contact to express something he isn't willing to put into words - a hand up in a fight, maybe, a gruff pat on the shoulder, but little else. He understands the value of certain traditions, like handshakes, but it's extremely unusual for him to be an initiator. Yet, he has been known to make use of his fists in addition to sword and magic - he's a mercenary, after all, and not bothered by brawls. The thing to note about him? He rarely, if ever, takes off his gloves. It was, for the longest time, to hide and protect the True Rune, but it's so ingrained in him as a habit that he still does it even when people know about the Rune and don't care. So even if he were to be tactile, he has a layer of protection between him and the other person. Yet, he still is loathe to make the gesture of touching even if his skin wouldn't contact another.

johnny is so physically demonstrative that it's not even funny. he is the touchiest toucher that ever there was. if you're within arm's reach, chances are he is going to be making some sort of contact. he is prone to hugs and throwing arms around shoulders and brofists and punching shoulders and just generally getting all up in people's business and doesn't afraid of anything.

by extension, he likes sex. johnny and sex is one of those things i talk about every other meme but seriously, it's a Thing with him. it's obviously the closest physical contact you can get, and johnny seeks it out like a boss. not now, obviously, since girlfrand, but he had a lot of casual sex back in the day before moving into the spider-hostel. i think relationship sex is completely different for him, but the thing it'd have in common with casual sex is that he is doing this to be close to someone and just. be all wrapped up in them for a set amount of time.

of course, he's a very hands on person when it comes to attacking problems. fists, not brains, and all that, which is why he tends to get his ass kicked by smarter villians who see him coming a mile away.
