Bellatrix is extremely drawn to power. She's attracted to people who can keep up with her both intellectually and physically. She likes to be flattered, but she also can't handle any insecurity in the other person. This basically means that she'll always find herself ego-clashing with them, but it's a plus because she craves conflict/high-stress situations. I sort of view her obsession with Voldemort as an exception rather than the norm, in that while she's rather helpless around him (something I can talk endlessly about), she usually extremely dislikes being the subordinate in any relationship. She wants to know that they're at least on an equal standing, but she'd prefer having somewhat more control than the other person. I could vomit headcanon about how Voldemort was around at the right place and time when Bellatrix was going through a period of extreme impressionability, but that's not the topic of this not!meme!
A penchant for torture and murder is definitely a bonus, if not a requirement. If you're not sadistic in some way Bella's not really going to be interested. OH YES physical attractiveness is also something she looks for. I know that Voldemort has no nose and crap but whatever he was hot before okay. Also she'd gone past the point of no return the moment she decided to spend a lifetime in Azkaban for him.
UH WOW this got away from me. I can talk about how skewed her view of general relationships is, but this is enough for now!
