[ He meant it. He knew the words made it sound more like a goodbye than anything else, a finality weighing down on his shoulders and making his head drop. Someone else might have reached out one last time, to shake on it, end on a good note, but Bradbury didn't trust himself with that much. So he turned to walk out the door, walk out on the only person who'd meant this much to him in years, because he couldn't see any other way to move on with his life. Both their lives. ]
