[Sheepish smile.] NYC's pretty far from my neck of the woods, sorry.

[He did live there for a while but several years in space do take up a larger part of one's memories.]

[The uniform does look vaguely like one he's seen before, the emblem especially.]

Outer space, mostly. I'm based on a planet named Oa. [A beat, and a little hopefully:] Heard of it?

[That's what he thought, it was the same emblem.] Do you know Dr. Natu, by chance?

Yeah, we work together. [A frown.] Is she here?

[nope nope nope just doesn't like the idea of one of his Lanterns being kidnapped along with him.]

She arrived a few weeks ago, yes. Explained your corps to me.

[He points to Kyle's shirt.] The Green Lanterns, was it?

That's us. [Kyle doesn't realise he does this, but he automatically straightens and pride radiates from him when he mentions being part of the Corps.]

[professorlionface]

I'm afraid there isn't quite as much space to patrol anymore. Not that we know of, at least. Most of the major happenings are contained to The City here.

[imaginate]

[Slight headtilt of curiosity.] Such as?

[professorlionface]

There was that whole political upheaval in Southwest Phoenicia earlier this month. Granted, much of the activity in the rest of the world isn't unrelated to imPorts who've left the City.

[imaginate]

If A.I. brings people here to help and they end up causing more trouble than they're worth, why not send them back?

[professorlionface]

The best answer I have for that is that she either has a funny definition of "hero", or her agenda isn't nearly as simple as she makes it sound.

[imaginate]

Story of our lives. [It's funny to him, in a very grim sort of way.] Can anyone actually leave of their own free will or should I just get used to the idea that I'm stuck here?

Not a story I'm unfamiliar with. [He spreads his hands and smiles. Laugh to keep from crying is just the regular old name of the game.]

Unfortunately, we get little choice in the matter except to make the best of what we're given.
