But then, he becomes immersed in examining the patient files, watching the security tapes. Not obsessed, but nearly so.
When he thinks she isn't around (even knowing she always is, in some form or another) he puts the tapes on so that he can watch the patient interviews, watch the visitors go in and out and the downtime in the cells as he reads through the files with Edward Nygma's name on, and the files that say 'Norman Osborn.' He has a tape beside him that says the same; 'Norman Osborn' and a date, but he hasn't watched it.
He's not ready yet, to view himself through the television lens, to voyeur in his own subtleties. So far all he is was still the impartial observer. ]

she seeks him out, lingering in the doorway of the room that she finds him in. her judgmental, scrutinizing stare takes in the various things that have been removed from her specific place for them-- the files, the tape-- before she remarks in that curt, unfriendly tone of hers: ]
May I assist you, Mr. Osborn.
no subject
Hm?
[ He turns his head, looking mildly surprised to see her there with one eyebrow raised. ]
Oh. It's you.
I was just going over some of the records. Nothing to worry about.
no subject
You should be aware that attempts to reassure me that there is "nothing to worry about" tend only to make me more suspicious.
[ her lips purse, briefly. ]
What are you doing? Why is it necessary for you to browse my records?
no subject
[ He turns his head back to look at the files in his lap, still drumming his fingers almost thoughtlessly. He shakes his head a little slowly, impatiently. ]
Why not, Danger? Are you trying to imply that I shouldn't? Maybe I'm refreshing myself on our patient history.

[ she moves further into the room, glancing around as if scrutinizing for other things out of place. one hand finds her waist in a gesture of disapproval she must have learned from watching a human being (likely emma frost, if one had to guess.)
her eyes drift to the tape. ]
You have some of your own documentation. Why?
no subject
[ Norman's eyes fall to his own tape, the file beneath it, before he looks at Danger again. He frowns at her, waving his other hand. He's irritated by her intrusion, but he folds the file he was reading closed and turns himself so he's facing her a little more fully. ]
I have to make sure it's accurate. If you had files maybe you'd understand, but even so I have the right to examine any of it. You aren't challenging me, I hope.
no subject
[ there's something vaguely condescending in the way she says that-- and while she isn't being as contentious as she has been before, she doesn't straight-forwardly agree that she isn't challenging him either. ]
What would you suppose we should do, Mr. Osborn, should you determine that there is something inaccurate in your documents?
no subject
[ Except that it is. He picks the tape up and holds it in his lap, as if suddenly paranoid she'll come over and take it from him. ]
Destroy them, obviously. I'm no longer a patient here, and I haven't been for quite a while. Their existence is hardly even necessary in the first place.
no subject
I must disagree. Recovered mental patients are continuously at some risk for relapse, no matter how minimal. Human psyches are fragile that way. That is why all medical records must be kept.
[ pointedly: ]
Besides that, I have memorized nearly everything of importance in this facility. In my mechanical form, this information only becomes more accurate and readily accessible.
no subject
[ His eyebrows furrow. ]
You must be able so see, then, that I'm entirely recovered.
no subject
[ her tone is unyielding. ]
I forbid you to leave with those records.
no subject
They belong to me. What exactly do you intend on doing about it?
no subject
Mr. Osborn, I suggest that you don't insist on this course of action. I will stop you-- physically, if that is what you force me to do. I cannot allow anyone to compromise the integrity of this facility.
no subject
[ He narrows his eyes, jutting his chin out slightly. He stops in front of her and crosses his arms. ]
Why is this so crucial to you? These files in particular. What do you think is going to happen? No one but me and you will even know the difference.
no subject
There are any number of possibilities. I prefer to be prepared for as many of them as possible-- hence my requirement that all records remain in my possession. Moreover, it is a matter of principle.
no subject
A matter of principle. Which is what? I'm not abusing the facility, Danger. I'm taking what's mine. I happen to know that forbidding you from viewing my records will do nothing to stop you.
no subject
That would hardly be an issue if you were not convinced that everything here is yours. Boundaries must be set.
no subject
[ He narrows his eyes. ]
Have you ever watched this?
no subject
[ clearly, she's in one of her less cooperative moods. ]
no subject
That isn't an answer.
