But he could get lost in the hazy veil of nostalgia without it clouding over, as alcohol would allow, so he sometimes took to sitting outside dressed in his usual formalities (not exactly like something from the forties or fifties, but it as close to his comfort as possible) as he thought of the past. Particularly after a Minutemen meeting, or sometimes before, he takes a moment to sit down on a bench or on the steps outside, and tries not to think about all the ways life here can be disrupted just as badly as it had been back home. If not worse.
It relieves him a little to know that all of the new Minutemen here have some kind of baggage, even if he doesn't know all the details (none of them really do, in regards to one another); it relieves him less to think about how frequently he's reminded of old mistakes, even looking at all their very different faces. Responsibility and guilt always weigh harder, with age. ]
