Exactly. I-if there is one. I don't think he'd be happy about it at all, even if it obviously isn't meant to be insulting.

Right. I mean the main character clearly loves him, but not everyone is into the bdsm scene and not everyone likes people to know they are.

[ His face goes a bit red. ]

Right. I don't really know who would want people reading into their private life. If I were the author I'd be regretting writing anything in the first place. Money aside. B-but that's the nice thing about pseudonyms, I suppose.

I guess, but I still think they should be proud of what they've done. Not everyone gets published.

Maybe. Maybe you're right. Although the first one was only self-published. [ Wait. ] ... I heard.

Yes. I believe so, I read about it... somewhere... I don't remember. Maybe my coworker mentioned it. [ He pulls on his tie more. ] I'm sure it was just the popularity that got the sequel out.

Wow that's even better for the author, then.

[ He bites his lower lip, and tries to relax more. He forces himself to leave his tie alone. ]

They certainly got lucky. It probably makes the rest of-- any heartache at least somewhat worthwhile.

Maybe they'll patch it up. I'm rooting for them, at least!

Tha-- [ A pause. ] that's kind of you. I hope so, too. I'm sure they'll have everything sorted out by the time the third book comes around. Finales usually hold a great deal of emotion. They probably put their heart and soul into it.

[ He should really stop talking about it, but. ]

I'm really looking forward to it.

[ He looks at Billy a little curiously. ]

What kind of ending are you hoping for?

I can't tell you that if you haven't read them yet! It would ruin the surprise.

Well -- I'm not a complete stranger to them, I do know a few things about the general premise. And the characters.

[ Nelson debates how to answer for a moment, biting his lip. ]

Oh my god! You could solve the mystery for everyone! Is it a girl or a guy? That's all I want to know, I swear.

[ He clears his throat, debating his answer again before he sheepishly says: ]

Well, don't tell anyone. But it is a man.

[god he is so proud of himself in this moment.]

You were right. [ He clears his throat, glancing downward for a moment. ] H-he'd probably be embarrassed to know that anyone found it that obvious.
