1. As you exit the Porter Building, the ambient noises you heard, so faint back inside where you found yourself at the center of glowing platform alone – save for the black screen and the female voice who greeted you – erupt in every direction. Every corner you look is bustling with people and cars and bicycles; people going about their everyday life, unaware you’re one of them: an imPort.

2. Or perhaps your bizarre behaviour or appearance catches their attention. Maybe it’s the communicator you picked up before leaving. Either way, several Cityzens headed your way come to a full stop immediately, each one eyeing you differently. Some looks outright afraid, others seem intrigued, and then there are the others whose surprise fades quickly and they carry on past you without as much a second glance.

3. Confused? The Network seems like a good place to start with soliciting information. There appear to be three functions for you to access: AUDIO, VIDEO, and TEXT. Make some friends while you’re at it!

4. Maybe you’re just thrilled to be here and help. The night time is a great time to scope out the underbelly of the City and its criminals. There’s always something going on in its more troubled corners: breaking and entering, drugs or arms trafficking, an attempting kidnapping... the list goes on. The question is: what will you do, Hero?

5. Make up your own scenario, if you wish! You may have discovered the Porter has granted you the ability to make it hail cats. Or that your power of super speed is gone entirely. Maybe you’ve noticed the Statue of Liberty’s sporting a new look. It’s up to you!

[ So this is all - this is weird, right? She's pretty sure she can categorically say it's weird and no one will try to contradict her, and that's coming from the girl who fought a battle on an ancient beach in medieval armor a couple minutes ago, so.

Did she get some part of that wrong maybe? Or... right? This could maybe be the next step or something. Or.

Yeah, she doesn't know. But that's not going to stop her from turning on the video function on this tablet and waving hello, the pamphlet she picked up still in her hand. ] Hey! Um, people who can see this. Fellow kidnappees?

Wait - Miles, Will, are you guys here maybe? Uh. Gwen? Lance? [ beat. Well, he had helped. Very tentatively. ] Marco?

[ Wait, what did she even mean to do upon starting this. ] Hi everyone else! I'm Allie, I was just - this isn't just another really weird dream, is it? It feels a lot like it might be a really weird dream, I have those sometimes. [ Hahaha, nervous laughter. ] Am I supposed to - report to anyone about this hero business?

[Abigail is seated alone on a part bench, apparently not that concerned about being in Central Park after dark. She keeps glancing away from the screen and up at the sky as she speaks.]

I knew there would be a lot of changes. That comes with any kind of a move, doesn't it?

[She frowns at the camera for a brief moment, the hand not holding the device quickly coming up to lightly touch the silk scarf around her neck. Then she turns the camera up towards the moon. Specifically, what's carved into the moon.]

But how do parents take their children stargazing with that watching them?

[Have a girl about Allie's age. Or, looks it anyway. The way she talks and carries herself, she certainly does come off as one. She's dressed pretty simply in a blue skirt and white shirt.]

I'm afraid this is no dream, Miss. This is very much real, though if you go home, you will very likely not remember a thing about being here.

[This is most certainly not how Kuranosuke expected his day to go. One moment he's leaving the house and the next...he's waking up in some strange room with a computer talking to him. Talk about confusing! Naturally the computer is absolutely no help to him, it ignores all his questions and just gives him the same spiel over and over again until he finally gives up and leaves (but not without taking the items offered).

Now he's outside the building staring at the communicator and dogtags we was given with disgust.]

Gross, these don't go with my outfit at all. [Said outfits? Well, he's definitely not presenting himself as male, that's for sure. He's wearing a strawberry blonde wig that has lovely curls at the end and a high bump on the back. His outfit is some cute little dress with tights and killer heels with a purse to match it all. One look at him and anyone could easily mistake him for a her. Although his voice is definitely a little on the manly as he mutters to himself in Japanese.]

[Gooooood evening network, we interrupt your regularly scheduled...whatever to introduce a new face. Said face belongs to one Kuranosuke Koibuchi who is currently presenting himself as female. He gives the comm a wave and a little smile before speaking in his feminine voice in Japanese. Thank goodness for that translation feature, right?]

So, like, I don't get there reason for being here but I'm totally not a good fit. Don't get me wrong, this is New York City! Or some variation of it. But, like, I have things to do back home. Kind of important things... [He trails off, realizing they've probably all heard this a dozen and more times.

He sighs, before continuing.] I take it I'm stuck here, right? In which case... [He trails off again, not really sure where he's going with this.]

Okay, forget all that. I may as well get settled in, right? So where's some of the best place to get some fine food aro-- [And then he realizes he doesn't have all his father's money. Oh...this could be a problem. He's used to living it up on expensive things. His expression actually falls with this realization, looking absolutely frightened.]

Oh my god, how am I going to live here? [He hurriedly shuts off the comm feed.]

[ VIDEO RIGHT BACK.

His gold eyes roll skyward, remembering what's there on the moon. It's the main reason he tries not to look at that anymore. ]

Ah... I suppose they ignore it. Or don't look at all. I know, it's foul.

It's really that easy to pretend things you don't want to see just aren't there at all?

[The camera shakes again as she brings it back to her face. Whatever expression went with that idle tone is gone now, a pleasant smile in its place.]

[ It's the sound of muttered Japanese that catches his attention first. It's not terribly uncommon in the City, but it is enough to make Kirei pause in step. He regards her for a moment, and recognizing her as a new arrival is simple: if not just for the location, the way she surveys her dog tags in disgust is a giveaway. ]

Pardon my interruption. [ That apology doesn't really sound sincere, but it is spoken in Japanese. ] May I assist you?

[ Because the man in priests' vestments is truly the most trustworthy source of help, yes? ]

It's likely for the best in this case.

[ His is less so, though not directed at her, but the thought of the offensive carving on the moon. ]

[Kuranosuke fumbles with the comm and dogtags for a moment out of surprise. Wide eyes look up and he freezes for a moment. This is one scary looking man. He recovers quickly, however, clearing his throat and putting on a smile before speaking in a more feminine tone.]

Ah, yes. Seems I've been kidnapped to some place I don't recognize.

I would prefer that to having to deal with them.

[ But that's not always the case and he sighs, making it clear enough. ]

You mentioned changes... did you just arrive?

That's probably the best way to do it.

[She's silent for a moment, hand rising- then, no. Don't touch the scarf again. She tucks some hair behind her ear instead.]

A few days ago. But there's enough information everywhere to get by. There wasn't really a point in calling until I found something not in the handouts.

Yes, that would be correct. If you are familiar with New York, the City is said to be very similar.

There is no known pattern to the Porter's whims, however you will be bestowed with a certain magic when you arrive. That can be said for certain.

[ He offers her a short bow, along with his name. ] I have lived here for nearly half a year; my name is Kotomine Kirei.

[ His collar itself is buttoned up rather high. He probably should have avoided video, but he knows it can be comforting to see someone else's face rather than a voice. ]

Those pamphlets are incredibly brief, I find. It's best to ask the Network, you're right.

[She's torn between worried and grateful with that tone- technically he's the first one beyond a computer to say that, after all.]

[ As she's quite young in appearance and although she's surprisingly calm, she's trapped here like the rest of them. ]

The mention of New York perks him up significantly.] New York City? Oooh, I've always wanted to visit and shop until I drop! Now I finally do just that! [He hasn't seemed to realize that this is an alternate dimension and his gold card is likely worthless here.]

[Oh right, being polite and introducing oneself is kind of a thing he's forgetting. He smiles and gives a little bow of his own.] Koibuchi Kuran-- [He pauses, realizing he's dressed as a woman and a name like Kuranosuke might be seen is really odd. Why give up the charade just yet?] Kurako. Koibuchi Kurako. It's nice to meet you.

Whatever's the truth. I think think there's enough lies going around without adding to them. Don't you?

[The calmness isn't changing. Depressing as it is, there wasn't that much left for her at home. At least now no one knows. Her side of the story is the only side.]

[ He doesn't look at her, however. ]

[Yeah, asking about death first isn't a sign or anything. She just has the same, earnest expression on.]

[ Well, that is a disturbing first question. He can sort of grasp why she would ask, but at the same time it still unnerves him for personal reasons. ]

It is. I know it all sounds like exaggerated nonsense, but it's true.

I'm sorry. It's just so unnatural. All of it is. But that...death is supposed to be a constant.

I don't know if he was the best authority on women.

He seemed to assume that one needn't be intimately acquainted with women to claim authority of them. Or over them.

I prefer the Jungian school of thought, if that helps.
