My first thought was honestly that Disney could probably make a better Origins movie.

It's a smart move by both companies, actually. Disney gets a taste of the nerd/teenage-to-twentysomething market and Marvel get a massive boost for their brand. I doubt there will be much change for Marvel content wise. Disney are usually pretty hands off with their companies (see also: Miramax).

If this means Marvel-themed rides at EuroDisney I am so there.

.... I just had a horrible thought.

FML, cannot find an image that will remote load. @_@

Archie meets Punisher.

Those comics.

The crossovers, oh god, the crossover potential in this buy out @_@

I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE EVENTUAL ANIMATED MOVIES. Bling bling, people. Bling bling.

Also, also. If this equates to more family friendly titles like MARVEL ADVENTURES I'm all for that shit. That's some of the best writing I've seen come out from Marvel in years.

Disney did a deal with Slave Labor Graphics (publisher of Johnny the Homicidal Maniac and Lenore and all those other goodies) and it turned out extremely well for SLG. And that gave us the Gargoyles and Haunted Mansion comics which are very good.

So yes, good move imo.

While on the one hand, I'm all gungho for this cause it does mean more money for 'actual' Marvel films now and yes, much better brand exposure. I worry about Disney policing content in the more 'adult' Marvel series. But yeah, more Mini-Marvels and Marvel Adventures, fuck yeah.

But then content police. Ouch, I think I'm conflicted.

And then also, I lol because it seems like the only smart moves Disney can make of late (outside the Hannah Montana racket) is with other company's property. This does make me question my spring internship selection too, orz.

I'm actually concerned about if they'll try to make Marvel comics less violent/adult. And about the ramifications this could have for kids/tweens. If they start advertising comics with a huge Disney logo on it, kids, and possibly parents who are irresponsible and don't investigate what they let their kids read, may want to read/buy things just because it says Disney.

I know a ton of parents took their kids to see Pirates of the Carribean without even reading up on it just because they assumed Disney=for kids. It didn't even matter to some that it was a higher rating than normal kid movies (PG-13?). I don't think those movies were appropriate for kids at all. I don't think a lot of Marvel comics are appropriate. I wouldn't want a kid reading X-Men. I CERTAINLY wouldn't want them near X-Force or New Mutants or most Marvel titles.

So that makes you wonder if someone will think about this and if they'll a) try to make things less adult or b) put them in plastic all the time and put more warnings or c) not make a big deal out of it and not put their logo all over stuff.
