Hold A Moment Ill Be There In But A Moment

[ and just then a window opens in the fabric of space and kanaya runs out of it, practically tackling jade with a hug. she's far more human-looking than jade may be used to, but no one else glows quite like that. ]

I've missed you in your absence!

[Jade lets out a squeal as Kanaya hugs her. She gladly returns the hug before pulling back a bit to look her over.]

Oh! You look different. Did the machine do it?

And I've missed you too! I can't remember the last time we spoke in the dream bubbles.

[ she loos a little confused as it catches up with her. dream bubbles, of course. welp, she called that one, but best not to bother jade over it for now.. ]

Y-yes. Quite a while ago, in fact, it's been over a year since I last saw a dream bubble.

[She nods.] That sounds about right. [Kanaya's falter doesn't get by Jade but for not she's not going to question it. She's still rather disorientated from her arrival. Huge difference between the ship moving between sessions and a suddenly busy city.]

But that delay is due to the time I've spent here. When last I returned to the Veil, we were still in contact. I...take it this case isn't mutual.

[ god it is so tiring for her to be behind on everything ]

Not since John and I started traveling between sessions. It seems the further we've gone from our original session to the new one less we see of the rest of you in the dream bubbles. Lately it was at the point where we weren't seeing anyone else.

[She pauses and thinks back to what she read in the pamphlet.] From what you've said I'm going to guess that I'm from a point in time later in the timeline.

It's a gulf that only seems to widen further for those of us who have been present on this timeline longer, even despite momentary returns to that which is more native to us. John's position is further back than my own, I believe. [ the other two oldbies being gamzee and eridan, she assumes jade won't have any interest in theirs ]

Rose has made some references to such a journey, of course, but it's a shame to hear we will be so separated.

[Jade's dog ears droop as she lets out a sigh.] Geez if all the time jumping stuff didn't give me a headache before...

It is a shame, it would have been more fun to spend the three years with everyone. But it hasn't been so bad on the ship.

A full three years? [ she's already spent one here, with varying degrees of company, but jade and john had at least been there through most of it. she can't imagine what she'd do with herself for that long as it is, much less without them! ]

What purpose would such a quantity of time serve?

That's how long the trip takes between sessions. I believe it's the same for your group as well. [She smiles.] It's not a completely terrible thing. John and I have become much closer as I'm sure your group has. Aside from Karkat...who I'm sure is going crazy from being cooped up even longer with your group.

...But that's just how he is. Then again I'm sure I don't have to explain that to you. You've known and put up with him for much longer than I have.

Oh, that's certainly something to look forward to. I'm sure the overactivity of his of his mood will counteract the sullenness of my own. I imagine it will only be exacerbated, should the company I'd left be maintained.

[ some of them, it would just be better if they were dead ]

[She gives a small laugh.] But you have Rose and Dave to keep you company as well! And everyone else. Just not myself, John or the other Dave.

Well, you will at least be reunited with those four during your time here.

[ not as much the "everyone else", given terezi's absence. kanaya's still not sure what to do without her moirail. not knowing what to do with herself is kind of a recurring theme.

It'll be nice to see the others sooner than I thought I would. Even if it's only while I'm here.

[She smiles, her ears twitch.] So how is everyone getting along? [She expects to hear there's been a few fights but that seems to be the natural way of things.] Oh, and where is everyone staying? I read about this MAC building which doesn't seem to be too bad.

The reprieve is pleasant for the most part, at least while the others remain likewise present. [ yeah so she kind of really missed you okay, and having two more exports right after only made it worse ]

We have some accommodations coordinated. Rose and her mother have a house on the outskirts of town, where they reside with John and the two Daves. They should have a room set aside for you.

Myself and Aradia have a hivestem we share with one Ronald Weasley. There were others among both parties previously, but it's just the three of us now.

Karkat has an abandoned warehouse where he must keep Gamzee. I'm neither aware of nor concerned for Eridan's current conditions.

Oh, there aren't as many of us here as I first thought. [Although knowing exactly who was had been transported to this world made it easier to find them. She found all she had to do was reach out to them and she knew exactly where they were.]

I'm glad that everyone seems to be doing so well.

[ she doesn't look quite as pleased with that second point ] There are some I wouldn't mind doing less so.

We've had recent losses which have detracted from our overall numbers.

[Jade's smile falters a bit. She should have expected that.]

So...what have you been up to here?

Not a terrible lot more recently. I have employment at a publication devoted to fashion, but I haven't felt terribly motivated toward creative ends these past few weeks.

[ so she's mostly been depressed and moody. same old, really. ]

So what do you say to getting off the street and going somewhere else?

I would raise no protest. I'm not certain of what level your abilities will be manifest, as that can have some variation on this timeline, but should it be necessary, I can transport us wherever is needed.

[Jade appears to zone out for a moment before shaking her head.] I don't think I can transport myself. At least not yet, I don't think. Seems I can tell exactly where someone or something is though.

As far as a location, I'll let you pick.

[ she pulls a glowing green thread seemingly out of nowhere, and a wide portal opens with it, as if the street has given way to a grassy lawn that had been hiding there just under the pavement, a modest house waiting just on the other side. ]

I expect your own hive will be the first stop. Everyone will likely be just as excited to see you as I was.
