Matt is, at this moment, the one male adult figure really in her life. For all that May rages at Peter (such a typical teenager) she really, really needs that grounding influence in her life and, lucky Matt, he's fitting the bill right now. Of course, Matt's not Peter, and she'd only heard about him as kind of the stuff of legends until now, so this will probably be far from a smooth relationship as time goes on and reality really settles in. I'm just waiting until the 'You're not my real dad!' line gets used in an actual argument.
