Illyana scares Sally a little, but not as much as Domino does. The other New Mutants trust her so Sally feels that she can as well. She'll defend her against others who speak ill (though lol she's friends with Pixie too). She wants to get to know her better and try and understand her more. She often wonders how Illyana got so hard, but she wonders that about ALL of the New Mutants.
