Otakon 2010 planning post, part deux: NOW WITH LESS FAIL
Hi guys. This is Mandolin, still trying to plan things.
Otakon 2010 is this weekend, from Friday, July 30 - Sunday, August 1. So I'm still proposing an informal meetup.
For reference:
Otakon Schedule of Events
Comprehensive schedule of Otakon cosplay photoshoots
We could meet up and maybe go in search of food near the convention center depending on how everyone's feeling. I'd suggest someplace like the Bank of America building across the street - there's an Italian place, a Quiznos, and a buffet/sandwich place called Cafe 100 on the second floor to choose from.
From the last post, the general consensus was that Saturday would be better. Then Toastbat suggestedSaturday at 4 pm. Saturday at 3 pm. (UPDATED)
As for where... Might be most expedient to meet on the second floor right above the escalators leading down to the indoor fountains (Charles St. Lobby), where the BCC information desk is. (It's the little yellow circle with a ? on this map.) Any location objections, please comment here!
I'll bring along Carmine in lieu of a sign. He's been a meetup mascot before.
Any suggestions? OH SHIT IT'S 9 PM MY CANON IS ON /posts
ETA: Also due to personal fail and roommate miscommunication, I might need a place to crash Saturday night. I can pitch in for a room and have an air mattress so if anyone has floor space and is crazy enough to offer, let me know. I totally understand if you can't, but all my backup plans have failed and after the Light Rail's epic failure at Artscape I'm not sure if it's going to be such a safe/viable/reliable option this time around.

Edit: I can provide a place to crash Saturday night, if you're still looking--air mattress not necessary, as there's bedspace for three (counting the sofabed) and only two of us so far. Just, uh, it comes with a warning that I'll probably still be slightly contagious with this cold at that point. :C And there will be waking-up-early chaos as I intend to go to the screening of The Last Unicorn on Sunday morning. Buuuut it's in a really nice hotel (the Marriott Residence Inn) with complimentary breakfast, so.

I don't mind an early wake-up call - heck, I can't afford to take Monday off like I usually do so I may have to leave earlier than usual on Sunday anyway. And I'll come prepared with Airborne. XD
I'll PM you about the details. I am totally willing and able to pay my share for a night - I just failed at planning in advance this year.
Also, the time got bumped up to Saturday at 3 pm - is that still good?

Yeah, it's like...four short blocks, or three, depending on how you enter the convention center; in any case it's not a long walk. Don't worry about paying, since the stay is actually paid for in Marriott points rather than money. Picking up the tab for more Dayquil if I run out will be enough. XD

And yeah, I think I can handle a Dayquil run or two. :) /PMs

But y'all have fun!

If 4 works best for everyone else though that's cool--I'm not actually going to the con as I said before so I don't want people to miss stuff they want to see so they can accommodate me when I'd just like to pop in and say hi.
