Inflicted upon you with moderator permission:

Hello GDS, I bring you news! Jesse and Toast are starting an RP! Certain aspects of it are still somewhat duct-tape-y, but it's coming together very well and we're very excited to try it out. And so we bring you this advertisement in the hopes that you will inform your friends and perhaps join yourselves if you have time and interest. Go on and take a look around, and let us know if you have any feedback or know anyone who'd be interested!

ETA: Also if anyone can tell me how to get rid of that... enormous blank gap between the text and the actual ad, that would be greaaaat. It's really bugging me.

WELCOME TO NEW EMBLEM

The city is dead and it wants you dead as well.

This is your new home, the island of New Emblem, aka Rubble City. A long and brutal conflict between bitter enemies has already caused the collapse of civilization, and now the Warper Engine has brought you to this world to continue the fight. You have arrived in this desolate, war-torn wasteland with nothing more than the clothes on your back and whatever supplies you had on hand.

There is no escape.

Two rival fortresses face one another from opposite ends of the island. You are currently trapped within one of them. Their thick walls are meant to keep you in... or perhaps keep whatever lurks on the other side out. Is escape possible? Well, walls do come down all the time. However, these are the only remotely safe areas on the island, and even they are riddled with monsters, traps, and disease.

Pick a side.

You have been drafted from your own world to carry on a battle begun by people now long since dead. It’s just you, your appointed enemies and allies, and the monsters, with the vastness of the dead city looming all around you.

Or don't.

Rewards do await good soldiers, but anyone who would have punished deserters is dead and gone.

Do you accept the mission given to you or will you reject conscription and strive to unravel the mysteries behind the downfall of this world?

Dare you venture into the Rubble to scavenge and explore, braving its many horrors?

Most importantly: Can you survive?

The answers are waiting for you in New Emblem. Good luck and do mind the dinosaurs.

I'm seeing a, like, four/five-line gap between the text I wrote up top and the advertisement itself. Is it not there for you?

[identity profile] stealthvirus.livejournal.com 2010-09-22 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Ohh, that

Is there any way you could post the HTML for the ad and everything? I could probably find it

[identity profile] stealthvirus.livejournal.com 2010-09-22 06:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Actually I think you could just put it in a textbox, just enclose the HTML in < textarea rows="2" cols="20" > < /textarea>

that way if I can't find it maybe someone else can

Like this?

It's because of how LJ formats HTML. All the line breaks you code into the table outside of your <tr> and <td> tags, it doesn't know how to deal with properly, so it shoves them outside of the table — giving you that gap.

There's only two ways to fix it, that I know of: either delete all of said spacing line breaks between your closing and opening tags in your table* (thus making the whole thing really condensed and hard to read), or hard code in all the line breaks you want visible (<br> and <p>), including in the post outside the table, and check the "Disable Auto Formatting" box on the post entry/post comment with more options pages.

*: that have to do with table section division. You'd leave your line breaks where they are in the body text of the table

to clarify, are doubles of characters ok?

[personal profile] liebe_krieg 2010-09-22 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)
It depends on whether they're from a canon AU; i.e. we could have Original Kirk, New Kirk, and Evil Mirror Universe Kirk all at once, but not Season One Kirk, Season Two Kirk, and Fanfic AU Kirk all at once.

...So in John's case we would have to confront the nightmarish labyrinth of his canon to determine whether he's from an alternate timeline or just an earlier version.

Interesting. I may have to get my villain on here...

Mwa ha. I was pondering Ultron, but this seems so "Secret Wars" that I may need to go Doom...

This just looks awesome. I shall have to ponder this a bit more as I continue to become acquainted with the setup you have here!

*g*

Well, I mean. Part of the fun of post-apocalyptic games is having the characters adapt to the really really different conditions?

Dwight would cry, though XD

[identity profile] sanctusveritas.livejournal.com 2010-09-24 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Dwight would probably be super excited, you know how he is.

But sob I'd want to app someone like Jim Halpert and...and I don;t think his survival skills are up to par.
