It hasn't for like, a year. I think something's up with my computer (though someone linked me to an interesting thing about my router, which apparently can block me from getting into chats in AIM, so that mystery is solved!) because it is an extremely ancient hunkajunk. Lmao, my account for Maxine when she was here had to be made by someone else.

BUT now you know why I haven't ever been completely obvious/ridiculous on things here that involve anon posting. :/

At random, have you tried using a different browser for it? Or a fresh install of your browser? Sometimes some setting or whatnot gets triggered that blocks things.

I have! I've tried IE, Chrome, and Opera (I use Firefox), none of 'em worked. I've tried every possible anti-viral software and I've cleaned my history, deleted all bookmarks, and cleared my cookies. We took it in and the dude was like "lol idk," except a little more professionally than that.

My computer's about ten years old. I'm pretty sure we just need to suck it up and get a new one.

..........but I don't want to spend that kind of money.

oh wow that's... definitely due for an upgrade. :)

Curious, "that kind of money" being what range? Since you can get a decent PC for pretty cheep.

Whoops, I'm a liar! I got it in like, July 2001. So almost ten years. Should've seen the one we had before this, though!

I want to have one that'll last me for a while. I know I can get a decent laptop for like, $500, but I'd rather spend a little more and not throw it away in two years. Plus, my bank account currently has $48 in it. So... there's that.

Still! In computer years, that's an antique!

And you can get one for muuuch cheaper than that. http://www.newegg.com/Store/Notebook.aspx?name=PCs-Laptops has a lot of good sales often.

Not that it helps the $48 problem. ^^;;;

You could check like Crieg's list or something, I'm sure can find someone getting rid of an older one that' s not that old for like.. 50 bucks or something. There's a few like that in the local paper here every now and then.

Cause if your computer's that old... it might just be something like a flash incompatibility or something.

Haha, yeah! I meant to get one last year, but I bought a new mattress instead (I can't complain, it's nice) and then I bought some bookshelves since we moved pretty far and my books were in boxes. They needed a nice, new home.

Thank you so much for the link! I will keep lookin' 'round. I don't suppose you're techie enough to have any specific suggestions?

Eh, it's only because I'm getting paid next week + the holidays. I will be less broke come February (unless I don't find a place that'll take my insurance for dental, ahhhhh!).

I've tried that! The last time I bought something from someone on Craigslist it ended up being... yeah. It can never hurt, though. I know we have a few used/custom computer shops 'round here. I should be giving them a look.

I don't know what that means, but that might be it!

Hey, those are both very good things! :D

If you tell me what you're looking to do with it I can probably figure something. :) *is the daughter of a programmer so knows a bunch of stuff but normally doesn't buy her own computer cause, well.. daughter of a programmer. :D* [I type from my early Xmas present upgrade on my computer :)]

Also can try Freecycle, since then it won't cost a thing and if it turns out to be @_@ it's no real loss.

For the heck of it: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ <-- go here and get the latest flash version and install it. See if that fixes the problem. It can't hurt!

I agree! Even after getting rid of a lot of books, I still have at least 120, I'd say? I don't like keeping them in boxes, even if having so many on shelves makes me look ~pretentious~ whatever. I have comics mixed in with 'em.

Uh. Well, PC, not MAC. I mostly just dick around. I don't watch television, rarely sign on youtube. I mostly use it for nerdstuff, to have a place for my 100000000000 image files that I will eventually make into icons (or just want to keep like a hoarder), and to store not-legal music and comic downloads (though I do have flash drives for both!).

Freecycle?

I'm doing that now! It will be hilarious if it is the problem.

Phhht. If overstuffed bookshelves make you look pretentious, I'd hate to think what our former walmart nightshift housemate who had insane books EVERYWHERE must look like ;) [and heck, our bedroom has to overstuffed bookshelves. So not pretentious at aaaall]

So mostly just internetting about, then? You could probably due fine with a netbook with a good sized harddrive then. http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCategory.aspx?SubCategory=772&name=Netbooks Netbooks are low power compared to normal laptops, but if you're not doing anything high powered to start, then you're fine anyway. And really, with a 9 year old PC... even a netbook is probably 2x a powerful as what you got now.

edit: or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883108320 if you would want a desk top, though that needs a monitor.

Freecycle is like Craigs list but for free stuff. http://www.freecycle.org/ See if there's one for your area, they're pretty great. :)

and it totally will be :D But great to be an easy fix!

Haha, well, it's my sister who claims it to be. Idk where she wants me to put them to make them appear otherwise? My closet? That is inconvenient. Now, if I constantly had like, Plato and Shakespeare out on my nightstand, flipped open and nothing else... maybe. Alas, the book I have flipped open is Splatterpunks. That just makes me look like a creeper.

Mostly, yes! I honestly wouldn't doubt that it would be. My sister had one, but it kinda got wonky within less than a year. But it was like, a super-off brand and cost her $300.

I do like desktops. Idk, I get kinda nauseous with laptops (I am a mutant, fyi, and lots of weird things bother me physically ._.).

I really appreciate your help. ;; Thank you so much.

I downloaded it, but I will not close Firefox (I'm uploading comics for sharing), so I'll have to wait and see. I'm going to try not to get my hopes up, though.

Phhht. Seriously. Bookshelves are supposed to hold books! simple as that.

Most the brands they have at new egg are good ones. The netbook I have is an Asus and it hasn't crapped out on me yet [I just got like... the near bottom of the line 3 years ago so OH MAN does it seem slow to me right now. @_@] Sennet has an Acer that's done her well, Lenovo used to be IBM laptops and is still very good. You can also check for reviews on NewEgg which is also a biiig help.

Desktops are better anyway unless you need it portable :) And often are cheaper. If you already have a monitor, you're good with that desktop link there.

And no problem! :) I kinda enjoy when I actually can help out with these things. :)
