and it's my turn! Specifically, what does your character find attractive in others? it could be physical traits, personality traits, hobbies, that Sims-esque heart-shaped hot tub full of somebody else's blood in their back room, anything - what do they look for in a prospective partner? do they admit to looking for these things? do they event realize they look for these things? Do they look at all?

Well. Terezi is kind of interesting in this regard! First of all she's only thirteen, but she flirts with basically All The Boys (and Some of The Girls). She's flushed for Karkat (presumably because she pities him and his self-esteem issues, though I think it's also because she thinks he has a lot of potential and wants to watch it unfold) but complains about how "H3 4LW4YS H4D TO KNOW 3X4CTLY WH4T TH3 D34L W4S 4ND 3X4CTLY WH4T MY MOT1V4T1ONS W3R3 4ND WH4T 3V3RYTH1NG M34NT 4ND BLUH BLUH BLUH". So really I think what she's attracted to, beyond basic pity, is someone who provides a challenge to her ability to read people. She wants someone who will figure out the innards of her mind while she digs into theirs. So to speak. This is probably why she flirts with Rose.

She also doesn't seem to be too interested in blackrom. Even at the height of her disputes with Vriska she regards her with apparent disgust and a desire to "just be done with her", and at one point Eridan tries to get her to auspitice between him and Sollux and she refuses on the grounds that Sollux isn't interested. She seems to have some spades in her eyes when she faces off against Gamzee, but we haven't seen how that panned out yet so I'm not too sure what her motivation was there when she was never interested in Vriska after she did similarly nasty things. So, shrugs.

Seriously, he does. But as far as personality goes he is interested in women who a. can compete with him intellectually, b. can compete with him physically, c. can control him in some fashion, or d. all of the above/any of the above in conjunction with each other.

Ian is destined to be husbando to Barbara, and they get lots of nice moments on screen that develop their relationship. She's very practical and keeps her cool in almost every situation, which is something that Ian really seems to appreciate. They also have a lot of interests in common, and spend a lot of time in canon playing off of each other's respective passions for science and history, so I think I can safely say that he is mostly interested in personality.

Hiei really and truly just wants somebody who understands him. AS CLICHED AS THAT SOUNDS the people he shows any kind attention that could remotely be considered romantic to are ones who listen to him, respect him, and understand where he comes from in life. In canon he does a psychic life story swap with Mukuro, which seems to set them pretty firmly in the "we understand each other and respect each other" camp, and in the manga he even goes so far as to do things like buy her flowers.

Ian and Barbara are one of my top Doctor Who otps. c: I just love team badass teacher so so so much.
