Ah- yes. I'm afraid I was... a little distracted, Halloween night. I shouldn't have gone down with John to the clinic.
[He dips his head and averts his eyes]
Yes, well. It wasn't the best first impression, I'm sure.
no subject
No, not so much.
[The way he'd acted through it and the actual drug-using-thing.]
no subject
However, John seems to think highly of you... And he does have excellent taste, so. I thought it may be best to... mend bridges, as it were.
no subject
I wouldn't be able to say whether his taste is good or not. I like to think I'm at least a capable medical professional.
[Still listening.]
no subject
He smiles again.]
I don't think I need John's opinion to confirm that. You are more than capable. Anyone could tell, your fingernails alone tell that particular story.
no subject
I was never a big fan of large claws. No good for conjuring.
no subject
[A small, sheepish, entirely calculated and brilliantly pulled off, smile.]
I guess all I can say is... well, sorry. For ah... me, really.
no subject
Well. It could always have been worse, I suppose.
no subject
I, uh... Usually don't care, but-
no subject
[She's very interested to hear the rest of that sentence.]
she is totally getting the wrong idea, and i know it.
Well. It isn't important.
How's the clinic?
Y E P
Well enough. Busy as it always is.
no subject
[There's a pause as he catches her eyes.]
...Fascinating. Brown eyes, of course, are the most common colour among the human population, however... Well. They gain quite a depth when tiny golden flecks are introduced, don't they?
no subject
It's a family trait. Couldn't tell you whether it was different in wizarding populations or not.
no subject
I'd have to do a study. [small grin.]
Speaking of - ah - magic... I have to admit my ignorance on the subject... Perhaps you'd be willing to educate me?
no subject
[That gets him a better smile.]
We could start with -- yes, we ride brooms. Men and women both.
no subject
Really. I would have thought that would be the first notion you would disprove.
no subject
[And pretty much nothing else.]
no subject
But does the magic come from you, or the broom?
Ah - I should say, is the magic within or without?
no subject
[Okay, so he went from flirting to asking her about magic. Obviously that's what he wanted...?]
no subject
Fascinating. [He offers her another charming smile.] Have you had any difficulty coping with the city? Did it - ah - feel different, at all?
no subject
[She shrugs her shoulders.]
no subject
Ah, I didn't mean the city. I meant the magic.
no subject
[She feels more at ease using non-verbal spells, for example.]
no subject
That some find their powers ... lacking, in the city.
