Catchall for Calvin, Jack, and the Major

Probably not enough, but Calvin and Astral? (When C&C DW opens we're doing that log.)
magicalworld: (read)

[personal profile] magicalworld 2012-01-30 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
Calvin finds Astral entertaining and likable, in that he puts up with Calvin's crap so far and gives funny names to birds! Finding out he is from space will no doubt only emphasize this. He defaults to feeling like he's Astral's superior because his bird names are better.

[that log is happening there is no other option]

hank for calvin
vic for jack?
magicalworld: (Default)

[personal profile] magicalworld 2012-01-30 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
Hank: Best headmaster Xavier's had so far! He's got the right balance of taking Calvin seriously versus not letting him run off a cliff to serve as the kid's educator. More importantly, Hank's sense of fun and science sort of resembles Calvin's own enough for Calvin to respect this grown-up. Being a blue furry superhero to a six-year old boy is a huge help.

Jack's thoughts on Vic are ambivalent. He's on the police informant list for good reason, but he and Jack haven't worked together personally enough for him to be on Jack's (very short) 'trust' list. Jack's aware that he's active against Vulcanus, which is good, but they've mainly reported to Waller instead of teaming up directly. If Jack knew Vic wasn't entirely forthcoming during the investigation of the people Onyx was eating, his opinion of him would drop significantly.

Major > Calendar Man?

Also, it's been far too long since this guy and Calvin have talked :c
magicalworld: (Default)

[personal profile] magicalworld 2012-01-30 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
The Major thought Calendar Man was amusing at first, but his exploits over the holidays have convinced him to view Julian as more of a kindred spirit: an ordinary human made capable of doing extraordinary things through absolute, all-consuming devotion to a singe object of obsession. For Julian it is dates, for Major it is war. The Major would be happy to support him again, or to call on him as an ally for one of his own plans.

[This is true, Calvin and MiTD will definitely have to do something after the move!]

Heh, the Major is very generous. It's a pity that Julian's kinda locked up right now, or they could totally hang out or something totally awful. uh

[ BUT YES! I would approve of this. ]

Calvin to Ruka.

Jack to THAT KID WITH THE EYEPATCH.

Also Jack to dammit DeConnick
magicalworld: (read)

[personal profile] magicalworld 2012-01-30 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
Calvin's honestly kind of intimidated by how much Ruka has changed and grown up over the years (while he is permanently six). In particular, her LOSING A FRIGGIN' EYE to a murderous clown-alien and not having it be fixed within a weak is a frightening prospect for him- what if something like that happens to him or someone else he cares about? So he's not sure how to deal with her changes.

Jack has a different attitude. As a young person, a longtime Import and a walking reminder of how people like Gamzee continue to be a threat, she's something of a symbol or shorthand to him of the things he's fighting for and failing all the time. He's deeply impressed with her intelligence, maturity, and adaptability with what gets thrown at her, which just makes it hurt more when he sees the eyepatch and has 'yes this is another one you couldn't help' driven home again.

On a related note, Jack knows that Candy is their best asset against Vulcanus right now, and that she's very young, but dammit he still wants to punch her really hard. In his worldview her experiments were unforgivable, and her attitude makes it clear she's not exactly brimming with remorse here either.

Nonetheless he gave his word when they first spoke that he would protect her from reprisals in return for cooperation, and that includes Imports as well as Vulcanus. As long as she keeps giving up the goods, Jack will bite his tongue and fight to keep the most valuable/annoying informant safe.

tell me of Jack's thoughts on Dick!Bat
magicalworld: (Swing)

[personal profile] magicalworld 2012-01-30 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
Batman is one of Jack's preferred allies right now. He's at just the right blend of independence/cooperativeness, rule-bending/not being a lunatic, intelligence and combat ability, for Jack to work with. Jack knows that when the Batman gives the police information it's worthwhile and that when the police ask him to look into something there will be results. That's worth a lot.

But on a personal level, there's not much there- Jack knows that whoever is behind the cowl is a driven and intelligent person willing to go outside the law for justice and saving lives, and he respects that. He's not at a place where he really trusts the Bat yet though.

Is there enough for the Major and Pink? idk.
magicalworld: (Babysitter!)

[personal profile] magicalworld 2012-01-30 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
There is definitely enough! Major can already tell that Pink is either a potential asset, or something much more valuable- someone that might actually grasp the world the way the Major does, someone who appreciates the things he feels and sees. The Major is entirely comfortable being alone in his 'unique' worldview, but the chance to corrupt Pink (and maybe make a propaganda icon out of an entertainer) is still a rare and exciting one.

Also how do you feel about them meeting for lunch in a log after the move?
backatthehotel: (Like black holes in the sky [syd])

[personal profile] backatthehotel 2012-01-30 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, Pink's definitely got the potential for at least a brief slippage, if not a long-term one. He's on a slightly more even keel than he was in the movie, just because a lot of pressure is off of him, but he hasn't actually dealt with any of his issues (and the whole City situation is giving him a few more), and they're all just waiting to build up and bubble over again.

He's thrilled to pieces to get to talk to an actual real life Nazi omg, Jesus Christ, and what conversation he's had with the Major so far, he's really agreeing him on a lot of it. (He's still got his soft, 'really honestly cares' underbelly, but we know how easily that can go to hell...) LOOK AT YOUR DECISIONS, PINKERTON.

And that works out just fine for me!

the major on bella!!
magicalworld: (ball)

[personal profile] magicalworld 2012-01-31 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
Bella's a sadistic quasi-fascist maniac who lives to harm others, so the Major pretty much loves her! Her blueblood inclinations match his own love of fine suits and food, which makes her great company even when he doesn't need her for evil or anything.

But he doesn't trust her, like, at all. Maybe he would have once, but almost every Import ally he's ever had has backstabbed him somehow so his current policy is more use-focused. But he really is fond of her! He just has half a dozen contingency plans to murder her if it ever proves necessary/reasonably amusing.

Jack's thoughts on Joel?
magicalworld: (relaxed)

[personal profile] magicalworld 2012-01-31 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
Jack has been really impressed with Joel so far, and is actually surprised at how fast this kid has proven to be an asset to the force. He's courageous, professional, dedicated, laid-back in the right way, and his powers are very useful. Jack thinks he has all the makings of a classic officer with the right luck and guidance. At the same time, Joel's youth and relative innocence make Jack feel naturally protective of him- if anything happens to Houston, Jack will blame himself.
