Spidey still can't get over the fact that here is this high-powered law enforcement individual who, like, trusts him and stuff, at least enough to give him the benefit of the doubt and use him as a resource. It's bewildering and slightly heady! But Spidey will do his best not to let Jack down. Especially since he was gracious about the whole Valentine's thing. And also because he's an older dude and Peter has Father Issues.

He's just hoping history will not repeat itself the way it did for Spidey's previous law enforcement allies, who are both dead.
