Ginny – Roxanne

Roxanne is a very nice person, who seems to have a genuine wish to help the people around her. She also seems to show some quite maternal instincts, which Ginny can understand to an extent, though she will generally shy away from that because it reminds her too much of her own mother. Roxanne has always seemed friendly to Ginny, and very outgoing. She was worried at New Year when Roxanne chose to stay indoors instead of going out to report on the Ball Drop, although as it turned out that probably kept her safe. Ginny is glad of that, though it surprised her because Roxanne has always seemed so brave to her. She’s sure there’s more going on than she knows. She imagines that Roxanne probably thinks of her as a child, much like her own mother did during the War, so she’s quite determined to prove that she isn’t as helpless as all that and she can help other people to fight when she needs to. She hopes that if she can do that, Roxanne might see her more as a friend than a child, though she’s not sure that will ever happen.

Ginny – Snape

Ginny is not entirely sure what to make of Snape in the City. She knows because she survived the War that he ended up being not quite so evil as previously thought, and she’s aware that he was secretly on their side all along. Despite all the punishments he doled out to her, Neville and Luna all year. And despite, well…all the evidence to the contrary, really. Ginny knows that he’s actually not only trustworthy, but heroic, and she feels like that ought to change her impression of him. And in her mind, when she thinks it through, it does make a difference.

Feelings are a different matter. She is still leery of him, and still unsure when she’s around him. She knows he’s technically on her side, but she wouldn’t be able to bring herself to confide in him, and when she looks at him she still feels like she’s looking at someone who hates her. She knows that this isn’t fair, and the net result is that she tends to keep away from him. She never speaks ill of him, and she talks about him much as she did earlier in her school career before it was clear he was a Death Eater. The main person who mentions him to her is Luna. Her typical response to his presence is to avoid, however. She wouldn’t directly ignore him if they were at an event together, or if they ended up next to each other for some reason, but she definitely wouldn’t be creating that sort of situation by design. Knowing he’s on the right side is one thing; feeling genuine trust for him after spending the last year at home hating him, is a little different.
