Jack is really proud of Joel! For a new officer, he has really distinguished himself during his time with the force- not just in terms of how many bad guys he arrests, but also in his integrity and honesty.

Jack still feels a little protective of him though. A lot of that is because Joel got taken by the Skrulls without Jack realizing even though Jack was expecting them to target the force, so he feels lousy about that and personally responsible for Joel getting stuck on that ship. It's also because it wasn't that long ago that he was getting everyone coffee, and in Jack's experience Joel's age might as well be a big red shirt. DON'T DIE JOEL JACK WILL TAKE IT REALLY HARD.
