BASICALLY HIS BEST FUCKING FRIEND

no really! the closest thing Eridan had ever had to a best friend back on Alternia (and in SGRUB) was Karkat, and mostly because (a) they could gossip about feelins and other peoples' relationships and (b) Karkat was the only one softhearted and patient enough to put up with him in a non-quadrant capacity for long spans of time. Other than feelins, they didn't really share many common interests.

Now Quentin, on the other hand, knows where it's at. He's not afraid of getting his hands dirty, hates humans, is a member of a subspecies genetically superior to the rest (like a sea dweller), is insanely fucking powerful, and loves raising hell as much as Eridan does. They get along, Quentin never tells him to shut up or cuts him down like... almost all his other friends (including Eddie) do lmao... and just generally gets him in a way he's never quite experienced before! And the weirdest part is that it's completely platonic, so there are no awkward romantic feelings to fuck it all up or quadrant duties to attend to, and they can just be bros.
