Eridan has nothing but good things to say about Desire. It's been entirely supportive and kind to him, and while he's seen it completely ruin other people for any number of reasons, he's callous enough not to care and arrogant enough to assume Desire would never do something like that to him. It likes him! He's the favorite! Even if he did fuck up somehow, he's positive it would recognize that he didn't mean to and forgive him instantly.

He isn't particularly aware of how stupid the amount of trust he's putting into it really is.

Eddie's warned him about Desire, and he even heeded those warnings in the beginning; at this point, however, Eridan is much too invested to care. in fact, it'd be like his guardian angel, if he didn't consider angels to be screaming killing machines as a matter of course. it calls him family, treats him better than a lot of people do, offers him advice, doesn't frown upon the whole 'genocidal warmonger' thing, and even offered him Despair's realm! !!!

sure, it knows and could control what's basically the largest chunk of his personality, but nobody got anywhere without braving a little danger, right?
