2020 Planning Post!

C&C 2020

Someone call for a dystopian future au? Sometime around 2013 (THIS IS NEW, GUYS, WE'RE JUST SLIDING THE SHIT HITTING THE FAN FORWARD A FEW YEARS OKAY), the government in the City decided that they'd had enough of these superhero antics. There was a nationwide crackdown on metas, requiring registration upon penalty of incarceration. The network was shut down, and many residents were scattered to the winds. There are a few that stayed in touch, however. That's where you come in.

For some of you, this might be from before your time. Not to fear! Since it's a highly flexible splinter universe, there's pretty much no such thing as canon. Retcons abound, either as allowances for contradictory canon information (except for the premise, of course), or even just if the player wants to change something around!

So, use this post as a free-for all. New characters get new projected histories, dropped characters can be said to have come back, and old characters can be reexamined or given more story. On Saturday, an open post will be put up in [community profile] capeandcowl2020 proper, so use this time to work out information and pimp this out to players who're eligible but may not see this (you can also ahead and start your own posts in that comm)! Remember, any character that has been played in main game is automatically good to go.

liebe_krieg: (Defeat)

The Major

[personal profile] liebe_krieg 2012-05-19 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
At first, the Major was all too happy to embrace this brave new world of totalitarian oppression and security gone mad. He thrilled as the boots marched and the fear was stoked and the hatred rose, as the jails were built and the clubs rose and fell. He was filled with anticipation at the inevitable explosion, when his old enemies would be pushed too far and lash out at their oppressors. His most conservative projections indicated that at least three major metropolises would be levelled in the opening hours of the fray.

But something went wrong. The forces of law and order won. The all-out war he forecast never developed. Import brawls and Porter crises became a thing of the past, replaced by order, surveillance, control. Worse than discrimination and repression, the new laws were bringing an absence of really entertaining conflict. The Major couldn't abide it. He began looking into ways of supporting resistance. And so this time, he found himself on the wrong end of the tyranny.

His resources have dwindled, his contacts cut off one by one. They hunt him diligently, seeking to make an example of him- their great success, the chance to say 'look at what we have accomplished, now this madman will never hurt anyone again.' But the Major still has one hideout, one hidden bank account, and a small core of die-hard fanatics. As long as he does, he will continue the fight. And as long as he does, those seeking to resist the world of 2020 will be able to gain funding and support... albeit from the most undesirable of sources.
