madison already had pretty awful social anxiety (blame the x-gene and filthy mutantguilt) before heaving into the states to go to vietnam and getting discharged with severe ptsd―it only got like, progressively worse over the years and after killing his even more traumatized bro. lmao and it was retconned that in those early years he went crazy and enslaved a town in canada with robots and sealed everyone in metal to reenact scenes from his childhood before getting rescued by wolverine and then got shoved in a psych hospital before getting recruited. life hard.

and then he got brainwashed into being gemini and making a robot twin to shoot people with. and then got brainwashed immediately again by weapon-x into solely automating a mutant concentration camp with robots that ended up killing 6k mutants in mass graves and beating his wife so bad everyone who read the book at the time assumed she died.

so suffice to say now his brain is completely fried and damaged with the brainwashing, his ptsd is like infinite in severity, he has horrible bouts of depression, he has trouble telling which way is up or down and has trouble focusing and he's suffering a complete disconnection with humanity along with sudden mechanophilia-by-brainwashing. BUT AT LEAST HE'S PHYSICALLY FINE.
