[Sherlock has often been called a machine, so in that way it shouldn't be a surprise his wife is one. While he's on another grueling case, he stays in his kitchen laboratory, scrutinizing a few samples of blood underneath his microscope. He hadn't even noticed Danger making him her perfected tea, not until she places it by him.]

Thank you.

[An almost automated reply, as he doesn't move an inch from his work. He does hear her question, however, and after making sure he's kept the samples at a temperature that won't clot, he looks up at her.]

Not tonight. I can't leave this.

[It's not uncommon for him, really, spending several days awake and then crashing later.]

[ she seems more or less accepting of that. he isn't the first human being with poor sleeping habits that she's been attached to, and a bit more strong-headed than the last. less dependent on her-- though whether or not she particularly likes that isn't something she's shared out loud.

still, expecting him to refuse her help doesn't stop her from offering.
]

Shall I assist you?

[He's fairly certain he can do the job himself, but Sherlock doesn't refuse immediately. As a scientific associate, Danger is second to none, and her company isn't really unwelcome. He simply has an inability to express himself that way. After a moment, he simply nods, then slides the microscope closer to her. The combination of human and mechanical eyes would hopefully leave little margin for error.]

I need a comparative cell count between these two samples. One is the control sample, the other is the victim's variable.

[ she comes to lean over the microscope, her movements practiced and controlled. for a machine with the strength to easily break a human being's bones, she's surprisingly precise, all fine-tuned motions, every motion deliberate. she has so few tells, so few ticks-- because even for a mechanical being that expresses human emotion as well as she does, ultimately she still isn't human.

it takes her a moment or two before she responds out loud:
]

I have detected some abnormalities in the victim's sample.
I can produce more detailed celullar and molecular data, if you wish.

[ a small, unreadable pause. ]

Then perhaps you may rest.

[It's fascinating just to watch Danger move, and Sherlock catches himself doing it fairly often. The human body is a marvel, and her machinery mimics the inner workings of one like the skin has been peeled back but to no ill effects. Altogether a nicer color, too. All of her pistons and wires perform each command her data-based brain signals and that he predicts. In any other situation, he would be paying more mind to the microscope.]

I knew you would. A very subtle poison may have been introduced into their diet over time--

[He sounds like he's about to go on a roll, but her suggestion stops him. Sherlock looks at her and holds back a sigh.]

You want me to sleep.

[ her unblinking stare, in return, is singular in its focus-- even with constant input from outside networks, her various sensors monitoring the environment, her attention doesn't seem to waver from him when he speaks to her. she isn't hurried to respond, considering him a moment before answering in her straight-forward, almost clinical way: ]

Yes.
Your sleeping patterns are already significantly irregular.
Additionally, I am capable of collecting this data for you, and I do not tire.

[ another small pause. ]

You are only human, Sherlock Holmes.
