either way, there's no fucking way he's making a network post anytime soon, so! he's hovering around casually just inside the capital-c Clinic, apparently hoping to speak to someone but not looking even remotely awkward about it, or he's in a restaurant. sitting at one of those tiny two-people tables or one of those bar-counter surfaces you see in fast food restaurants where there's no actual alcohol involved, just a lot of stools, i have no idea whether or not you have any idea what i'm talking about but the point is whatever it is it's overlooking the street outside! and he's eating while peoplewatching like a fat bastard, which he in fact is.]

Dexter is just hoping about his business, as one trends to do in such a bustling city as this. It's hard to feel particularly anything about returning to this place when such a prolific creature as Lily Anne waited precociously for him back home. Admittedly, however, he had only recently felt anything at all and it was owed all to her, splendiferous as she was innocent, completely unaware of the clutch she held over Daddy Dexter and all who dared come within eyelash-batting proximity.

He sighed a vacuously empty sigh, empty of all Joy and hope which his daughter, of course, embodied with her tiny self. This place was boring and pointless and didn't have Lily Anne in it, therefore it lacked and Dexter was sure it knew it was, the gray sky and icy rain only serving to fuel his indignant fire in the world where nothing could be sacred and everything was hopeless and horrible.

In fact, Dexter was so upset, his hood drawn up securely around his face, that if it had not been fire the distinct and unwelcome unfurling of leathery wings against Dexter's dark inner sanctum, he would have passed the doughnut shop clear by. Which truly was uncharacteristic even without taking into account the who that he couldn't believe he saw now. He had to blink several times, and not just because of the rain, to process that it truly was his brother sitting there and not some imposter.

Dexter of old might have kept walking, but this new family oriented man slowed his step and slunked into the dimly lit shop, freezing before he quite got to Brian's table. Could he really just walk up and say 'hello?' What ill timing the fates deemed to have, in such blatant disregard to Dexter's doubly blatant discomfort. But that was the way things went between brother Brian and doting Dex. He heaved another sigh and dredged a smile up out of the crocodile mote of loathing that stood stagnant outside his newly-thawed heart.

[There's a man wandering down the sidewalk not far from the 'Porter building with the slow, uncertain steps of a new arrival who's not moving towards any specific destination because he has no earthly idea where he is to begin with.

He's confused, wary, and not altogether steady on his feet.

He looks like a damn mess.

He's dressed in an old-fashioned military uniform, mostly black, and probably cut a very handsome figure before someone rolled him down a hill and doused him with a couple gallons of blood. Now his coat hangs open and what was probably a snappy cravat has been repurposed as a clumsy makeshift bandage around his abdomen.

He wears a katana and wakizashi pair at his left side, in proper samurai style. In most other places in the world someone would probably have called the police by now, but this is the City and the locals have gotten pretty jaded about stuff like this.]

[Why did it always have to be cold when he was here? He had heard in stories that New York was sometimes occasionally warm, though he may never get the chance to see it with his own two eyes. Even the sweltering Miami humidity would be a welcome reprieve from this 'wintery mix' the weather channel seemed to tout. Dexter wasn't sure what that meant, but the snow/rain/hailstorm outside seemed just as undecided as the Florida native.]

I wouldn't have minded a jacket. [He tried to sound the least whiny he possibly could, but it was hard dammit. Especially in a world without LILY ANNE!!!!!!!!]

[ Nathan, in all his orange jumpsuit glory, is standing on the sidewalk, ignoring all the people who are trying to move around him and grumbling about the fact that he's decided the best place to stand and stare up at the buildings above him is smack dab in the middle where he's in the way of both sides of the traffic flow.

In one hand he's got his communicator and the other hand some foil from the hotdog he's currently chewing the last bite of as he squints up at the skyscrapers. Looking back down and swallowing that bite he looks at the foil in his hands before balling it up and tossing it over his shoulders. As for that condiment covered hand? Well that guy to his right bent over fixing his shoe in his nice business casual outfit? Nathan's just gonna casually be wiping his hand off on the guy's back before taking a few steps forward and messing with the communicator properly as the guy looks over his shoulder confused about who the hell was rubbing his back.

He taps on some of the buttons, trying to get a feel for this device as he makes his way down the sidewalk, not looking up and moving out of ways and forcing people to awkwardly and quickly sidestep him instead. ]

The two raccoons scampered in front of her, picking up and discarding whatever shiny objects may be directly in their path as the trio made its way from the local coffee shop back towards City Hall.

When Nathan didn't take the sane person's route and side-step away from the raccoons, the two had no choice but to try and go up and over him. Each one grabbed onto one pants leg of his jumpsuit with the intent of climbing up. April, a carrier full of four coffees in one hand and her other occupied with texting, didn't even glance up.]
