[ she stares at him for a long, tense moment. if she were mechanical still, she'd be like a sculpture, completely still-- but like this, her shoulders rise and fall slightly with her breathing, her eyelashes beating against her cheeks with every blink.

finally, she lifts one hand to tilt his face towards her, tipping her head to kiss him. she's warm and yearning and a little angry, a little rough-- not cold, not unyielding like her real form might suggest. she wants him, and it's real, tangible. ]

[ Kirei is almost as still as she is. He is stiff and steady, his breaths calm and his expression impassive. He wonders if it was this disposition which drew her to him.

He endures the kiss passively for a moment, his body unmoving, giving no visible change from before she pressed their lips together and after. After a moment of debate, his hand lifts and he buries his fingers into her hair -- holding her to prolong the gesture. ]

[ her kiss isn't gentle-- it carries her frustration, her unreciprocated feelings behind the hard press of her mouth against his, the faint hint of her teeth, her hands against his face. his fingers in her hair at once feeds her wants and feeds her frustration-- because in her mind, she knows it's purposeful, deliberate, learned maybe, the way she sometimes mimics human gestures.

when she tilts her head away just enough to speak, her question is deceptively plain and quiet: ]

[ It's simply a fact. Love can not change him; Claudia had given her entire life for him, and it achieved nothing.

His hand moves from her hair to the back of her neck, underneath the thick tangle of her hair. She is as frail and vulnerable as any human, and he can choke the life out of her if the mood strikes -- instead, he endures the kiss, and when he speaks, the words are murmured against her mouth. ]

[ she dwells on the question, and it weighs heavy on her for a long moment. her eyes drift to where her hand cradles his face before she lets her touch drift lower, until her fingers loosely frame the base of his throat. it isn't a threat-- but maybe she's thinking about it. there's so much turbulent emotion, so much violence hiding under that controlled surface.

but after another beat, her fingertips just trail over the line of his sternum before dropping away, and she answers simply: ]

I am unsure. But regardless, perhaps it is too late to stop it.
