[ she eyes him hard, obviously displeased and a little tense in the shoulders. she hates this, but maybe for the wrong reasons -- maybe she doesn't want to remember exactly what kissing him is like.

finally, with a touch of annoyance: ]

Well, get up then.

(he looks up at her, raising his eyebrow before getting up.)

You're not going to punch me. (it isn't a question or a request, but a firm demand.)

No. I ain't gonna punch you.

[ she agrees at length. true to her word, she doesn't punch him. it might be worse, when she finally leans to press her mouth against his. ]

(he carefully puts his hands on her waist, pulling her close like nothing had ever changed. but he's missed this, just holding her close.)

[ she drapes her arms over his shoulders, even though there's still a little tension in her face, a little lingering annoyance. ]

(he can't help the small smile before he kisses her. it's not something reluctant, but more indulgent - like he's missed her so much.)

[ it's familiar, and unexpectedly, it hurts a little -- this bittersweet tightness in her chest that doesn't quite go away even when she tilts her head to speak. ]
