What's the difference? [ He raises an eyebrow, crossing his arms and straightening his shoulders a little unconsciously. Not that the touch bothers him any, but he adjusts his body language slightly all the same. ] I was always more of a football person, so the subtlety must be lost on me.

[deadthenred]

Well, the Mets aren't s'posed to be the team that plays here, that's what.

[ He pauses, making a big show of considering.]

But I guess even a fake team's a damn sight better than the real Yankees.

[ He chuckles a little. He's a little more familiar with the Yankees, at least by name. (Definitely not much of a baseball person.) ]

I don't know what to tell you, really. I haven't turned the radio onto baseball since I've been here. [ He smiles a little apologetically. ] Nelson, by the way.

[deadthenred]

It's alright. A bit un-American, but given the circumstance, I s'pose I can forgive you.

I like American sports just as much as the next man. I just think football is more engaging.

[ Just the slightest bit defensive, apparently. ]

Good to meet you. So, I take it you've been here before?

[deadthenred]

I like boxing alright, too.

[ He looks around the place, like he's sizing it up, even though the sky's so big you could never hope to count it. ]

I was. Doesn't seem like it's really changed.

[retropolis]

It's not really a matter of patriotism, either way.

[ He offers his hand to shake anyway, since introductions and all. He shrugs one shoulder. ]

I'm not sure things this strange ever really change that much. Except to get stranger, but by then you've already grown accustomed to it.

[deadthenred]

[ He takes the offered hand and then shakes it— it's a good strong handshake from a kid who looks to be on the small side of twenty. ]

I keep hoping it'll be 2200, maybe, 'cause I want to see a flying car.

[retropolis]

[ Nelson withdraws his hand, eyebrows raised. ]

I'm not sure I'd even like to think about how much different things would be by then. Everything's different enough already, if you know what I mean.

[deadthenred]

Yeah, I do.

It helps to know how to adapt, at least. As you surely know. I hope it's not too distressing being back.
