Is Gwen Stacy actually popular? Really?

I always thought of her as this cardboardy, personality lacking cypher that was turned into a saint, because silver age fanboys among the writers couldn't let go of her. That and the only defining features she ever had was her death and being a prize that the hero lost.

Easily one of the worst characters to ever appear in Amazing Spider-Man, until BND brought us two pieces of cardboard even worse than Gwen. (aka Lilly and Carly)

I do believe she's a popular character, even though most of it's definitely because of her death and that she was Spidey's girl. But nevertheless, a lot of people did like her.
