It's so true though. Seriously she was awesome shit until her New X-Men appearances. But since then those two morons just go out of their way to make her more angsty and tortured and IUDEBGELDE they can't even decide if they want her to be more "normal" and less weapon, or ONLY A WEAPON NO HUMAN ALLOWED. They mess up their own continuity and can't even write consistently.

But then again every character in X-Force right now is having huge consistency problems, BUT I WON'T EVEN START ON THAT.

My main problem for me right now is that I'm not seeing that "more 'normal'" side at all. It's like, for a moment there during some point in canon it seemed like she was breaking out of her shell of messed-upness and angst, but then X-Force came along and basically shoved her all the way back there, and then some. They've completely dehumanized her, it's like... hrrrrngh. The fact that she goes by X-23 and even Logan calls her "X" just. Boggles my mind.

And while I have no doubt that's true, I know tons more about Laura than I do about the others, so there's only so much complaining I can do about the rest, you know?

And that's exactly it! It seemed like they tried to make her more normal in New X-Men for awhile, and then all of a sudden BAM! She switches teams and suddenly she's changed and none of that other stuff even matters anymore. So not only did they dehumanize her, but they took back all of the development that THEY wrote. So like...wtf. You just effectively made your own story building worth a shit. Genius.

Oh, I get that. In all honesty though, Laura probably has it the worst.

sdigjsdif YES. /stamps JUSTICE over your comment. On that note, even that tiny bit of development she had was pretty shit. Becoming a normal girl = having a retarded, out of character crush over a cute boy and cutting yourself over it because omg feelings are so hard!!! I mean, duh, didn't you know every teenage girl has to get crushes. Also, it seems to me like Kyle and Yost acknowledge they're having her develop backwards -- like, in Messiah War, in that one flashback panel with Kiden where Laura was happy and sunshiny and grinning? When have we ever seen Laura grinning in present canon, as written by Kyle and Yost? Oh, right. Never.

Yeah, it seems like that to me too, and while I acknowledge a big part of it is probably due to how much I love Laura, you can't deny the number of covers that feature her being miserable/maimed/whatever. I think for this arc there are like, three covers like that. In a row. What.
