IN ~SERIOUS TIME~ NEWS I honestly don't think Twilight is any more problematic than series which are vastly popular in fandom, like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, so the hate-on for it actually gets pretty annoying to me.

YEAH. it's corny and tweeny, but that's what makes it so appealing and fun for people i think. i'm not a big fan of stephanie meyer as a person and think she's kind of a nutjob, but that doesn't mean we can't enjoy the stories or the characters she creates, as is the case in any fandom.

Oh yeah, Smeyer is BATSHIT NUTS, but like. You are never going to find a series that's going to be a perfect, non-sexist, non-racist, non-classist representation of what you want to read. This account is for a character from a show with racial/gender issues that piss me off! That is okay! I still enjoyed the show and am introposting this character at another game! Seriously, as long as you don't believe that the relationships in Twilight are healthy--and let's face it nobody on livejournal thinks that--what the fuck is the point of getting holier-than-thou about the series someone else likes? ALEX I'M SORRY FOR GETTING THIS STUFF IN YOUR POOR INNOCENT POST.

Nah, I totally agree with you and it annoys the hell out of me too. (Though, people get squicked with whatever they get squicked with, and if people don't want to thread with my Twilight character that's a-okay.) But the way Twilight gets singled out by people because it's cool to hate on is just. Hrrrg.

HAHAHAH, oh, I tend to be way harder on Joss Whedon because he claims to be a feminist/make feminist canons, which is obviously not true for SMeyer. But really, it's fandom that makes BtVS so wrong sometimes, jesus, how do you ship someone with their attempted rapist??
