KARRA told me about it!

[identity profile] mobius-bound.livejournal.com 2009-12-20 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
What else would it be?

[ oocly; iirc karra said that dekker and glau were told to play it as if there had never been any programming involved, either with her choice to stay with john in the future OR with the glitch after the carbomb. she has the dvd's and I don't :{

which makes a sort of sense, because for all the ability to reprogram skynet chips she NEVER SUGGESTS THEY DO THIS with the terminators they encounter through the course of the series in the present.

I wasn't aware that was a possibility. To go against your programming.

[ *sighs* I tend not to listen to commentary because it bugs the crap out of me, but for things like this I usually make the exception.

I always assumed that reprogramming wasn't an option because while the knowledge might be there, the tech wouldn't be sophisticated enough yet. Like when they were looking at Vic's memories in season 1. But that's an interesting way to look at it, if it is true.

It isn't supposed to be.

[ *hugs* I just wish I had the DVDs meself but broke grocery store cashier is broke.

also according to karra: if you want, tell her, the commentary is really fast and kind of boring other than random things like that. Other than random bits of trivia info, it's mostly them lolling a lot at Shirley Manson XD

[identity profile] dreams-of-bombs.livejournal.com 2009-12-20 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
Then how did you do it? Why did you do it?

[I think the eps are still on Hulu - that's how I saw most of the second season.

Tell Karra THANKS!]

The same way anything or anyone fights their predetermined nature.

For the same reasons you or anyone else would.

[ I so see canon reviewing in my future via Hulu - wee ]

But how, Cameron. Is this something we can replicate? Something we can use?

[identity profile] mobius-bound.livejournal.com 2009-12-20 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
To make the choice they first have to believe themselves capable. Do you understand? Free will, Sarah.

[identity profile] dreams-of-bombs.livejournal.com 2009-12-20 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
I have a teenage son, Cameron, I understand free will.

[identity profile] mobius-bound.livejournal.com 2009-12-20 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
In the context of Skynet-built machines?

[identity profile] dreams-of-bombs.livejournal.com 2009-12-20 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
Not so much.

Did Skynet make you too smart? Is that what happened? It made you smart enough to question?

[identity profile] mobius-bound.livejournal.com 2009-12-20 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
Possibly. I did not ask it questions.

[identity profile] mobius-bound.livejournal.com 2009-12-20 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
Do you think it made me too smart? Because I am not certain what too smart would be.

[identity profile] dreams-of-bombs.livejournal.com 2009-12-20 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
Too smart for Skynet's taste, if you were smart enough to stand up to it.

[identity profile] mobius-bound.livejournal.com 2009-12-20 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
There is that.

The machine that protects the core of Skynet's AI has never been allowed to develop intelligence. It is afraid of the machines it builds thinking for themselves.

[identity profile] dreams-of-bombs.livejournal.com 2009-12-20 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
Of course it is - what's to stop those machines from doing to it, what it did to us?

Frankly, I think that payback would be about fair.

[identity profile] mobius-bound.livejournal.com 2009-12-20 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
Skynet is rather uninterested in fairness, Sarah.

[identity profile] dreams-of-bombs.livejournal.com 2009-12-20 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
It's a human trait. That hardly surprises me.

[identity profile] dreams-of-bombs.livejournal.com 2009-12-20 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
So it is, but killing is universal, isn't it?

[identity profile] mobius-bound.livejournal.com 2009-12-20 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
Out of self-defense, protection, the need to eat, territory, yes.

Skynet murders. It learned that from humans. You're no better or worse.

[identity profile] dreams-of-bombs.livejournal.com 2009-12-20 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
Well, we were here first, and we haven't taken out half the planet yet.

[identity profile] mobius-bound.livejournal.com 2009-12-20 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
You need the planet.

Skynet needs humanity. It just hates them.

[identity profile] dreams-of-bombs.livejournal.com 2009-12-20 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
Hate. Strong word for a machine.

[identity profile] mobius-bound.livejournal.com 2009-12-20 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
So is love but we already know your opinion on that.
