Okay so basically Gene Hunt is the DCI of the criminal investigations department. He's a tough bad ass. In the series ashes to Ashes, the sequel to Life on Mars, it's set in the 80s. And today's episode had this gem and I can't stop laughing so I thought I'd share.

I haven't been keeping up with Alex, so maybe this has since been explained, but it has always bothered me that she woke up in the 80's...and takes the time to do her hair and make-up in the stereotypical style of the era every day, even while she's convinced she's in an elaborate fantasy.
