There was a pause. An agonizing, heartwrenching pause. The enemy robot stood very still, as did Schrodinger’s. Seana watched from a nearby cliff, leaning on her sword and holding her breath. Behind her, Vector-sensei sat by the campfire in his longcoat, smoking a half-burnt cigarette with his eyes closed.
“He’s going to make it, you know.” Vector said, not looking at her.
“B-But sensei! What if he doesn’t?” She asked, obviously quite distressed.
“Do you have faith in him, Seana?” Vector asked, still not even looking up. Man, the guy could be a jerk when he wanted to. But the, that was his character’s purpose. Besides probably a heroic sacrifice later. But not like the characters knew that.
Seana’s face composed, and she nodded, “I do.”
“Then why are you worried?”
With that, there was one final “SHING!” from the battle behind them. Seana looked over just in time to see the enemy robot fall, and Schrodinger’s mecha vanish as it teleported over to her and Vector.
Schrodinger lithely hopped out, walking over towards the campfire. The sight of him in his mecha suit make Seana’s heart beat a little faster, but like hell was she addressing that in this lifetime.
“Vell? How did I do?” Schrodinger asked happily, sitting on the log and grabbing the generic meat from its spit above the fire. Grinning widely, he took a bite.
“Why don’t you ask Seana?” Vector asked, taking a drag from his cigarette.
“You’re no fun, old man.” Schrodinger muttered before turning to Seana, “Vell? Vas I good?”
Seana blinked, “Ah, well… Yes, you were. Fantastic. Really cool!” she settled on, smiling.
Schrodinger grinned, “Alright!” he said, taking another mouthful of meat.
The camera then panned out to the party’s final destination, far far away.
“Curses!” The Fallen cried from his Crystal Castle of Fiery Despair, “Those rodents have defeated another of my best soldiers! But I have a plan, oh yes. They will fall before long…”
