What're You Listening To?

Hey CnC. I'm just wondering what music/album/song you're listening to at the moment. Right now, I'm listening to a cover of Duran Duran's "Hungry Like the Wolf", which I'm pretty sure is the only song anyone remembers by Duran Duran.

True enough.

It's been awhile since I've listened to them. And I know it shouldn't be, but it feels odd to hear a human cover of those songs.

It's not so strange for it to be odd, I think, if you're used to hearing it one way. I know after I heard this version a few times, I checked out the original vocaloid version and it really raised my hackles for being wrong, even though I usually don't have that sort of reaction to that style of music.

It's odd. I think in a lot of ways, people are both amazed and made terribly uncomfortable by the fact that we're getting to the point where technology can emulate, if not outright create, original works of what we'd consider art, such as music.

Well, humans manipulating technology, at any rate. When the vocaloids start writing their own songs, then I'll worry.

Fine. Then I will just stew in my shame.

Still, I dunno. Even if we do get to the point of creating AIs that can create without human influence, it'd be neat to see. Moral implications not withstanding.
