So I have a dilemma, GDS

So, now that the long period of no crew members and a hiatus from the mangaka coming to an end, I'm probably gonna do a canon review and reapp this fella here:

Now, my dilemma is this: One Piece is about to experience a ~*~two year time skip~*~, when it begins again in (hopefully) a week, and everyone's going to ~~finally~~ be two years older.

SO. TIME SKIP USOPP OR NOT? THAT IS THE QUESTION.

Do I really want to play a man that would dare to wear a hat that way?

On the other hand: LOL soul patch ~~it at least doesn't look as ridiculous as Sanji's latest face decoration~~

Pros to apping as time skip Usopp would be he's bigger, stronger, MAYBE braver, plus it would just save me the trouble of a canon update later. Also, a gorgeous massive cloud of hair.

Cons to it, obviously time skip hasn't come to fruition yet and so not sure if his personality is very different. I doubt it is, but all the same. Also, eventually replacing all icons. Also also, what the fuck is up with that hat.

Opinions? Who just wants to laugh at his hat?

Sanji's actually pretty untouched compared to some of the other dudes, just extra hair and one other kinda amusing thing, otherwise he's wearing suits and everything

idk okay to seriously answer your dilemma for a second, if the timeskip ends up being sadface and fail and their personalities change too much, you might regret it. Not that I want to see Fatsopp either because holy lord what was that...but I suppose I'm just more of a wait and see. I have no plans to canon-update Sanji unless another arc of story reveals some total awesome that I can't resist.

LOL honestly they're not all that different, the only one I'm really nervous about from what I've seen is Franky. But for the most part the changes have been superficial things.

I trust Oda enough to not completely change them, but I'm also worried about maybe Usopp isn't gonna be as spastic/cowardly. BUT IDK. If you have no plans to canon update soon maybe I'll just keep him like before, but at the same time, it'd be pretty hilarious to have a buffer 19 year old Usopp with a matching patch of chin fuzz showing up and Sanji's the same.

Admittedly Franky blew half his face off and had to fix it, but even so. I suppose it's possible these are "hey I just came from this weird island, man" outfits and they change/shave/haircut/put on a goddamn bra Nami geez in the next chapter. I will wait and see because I don't want to lose my new obsession so quickly.

.........okay ngl the idea of Usopp showing up the same age with the same facial hair (COPY ME MUCH?) is kind of hilarious. How long do you think you would wait to see how the characters change before apping him?

LOL Franky's montages were the best things ever. I loved him thumb's upping as everything asploded, then that horrible face.

IDK maybe 2 or 3 chapters? Where I got that scan they had the whole chapter with a translation and Usopp was a stupid braggart again but nothing much to go on in two pages. Maybe two or three more would have a better understanding on if he actually changed a good deal.

I love that his defect was just his eyebrow curls opposite. I had been hoping it would be something stupid like that, I had always assumed it was just exactly the same as his other eyebrow, but I like this way better.

Nah, I don't think he lost an eye from what I've seen. I think the one big change I could tell is interesting for a fact I can't get into without spoiling what it is, but I wouldn't worry. If I'm wrong and there's an even bigger change like a missing eye I will be flabbergasted.

Yeah, see, the cover art was so unhelpful - I couldn't tell if that eye is injured or he just was winking and has a cool new scar. I like cool new scars. I MEAN LOOK AT LUFFY'S god it's even deeper than Zoro's.

OKAY SO YOU SAW THE COLORSPREAD, so I don't think he's lost his eye, I would think Oda would put an eyepatch of some sort on him if he had, because making Zoro go around with a gaping hole or something isn't cool, an eyepatch is. I think the scar is vaguely interesting for the reason people hate it, because it's like Rayleigh's. I might be fuzzy on my OP knowledge, but wasn't he Gol D Roger's first mate? I JUST THOUGH THE TIE IN WAS INTERESTING. The other rumor is that he's also missing his arm because of how it's position in the colorspread, which I think is even more ridic and would be more inclined to believe a missing eye than a missing arm.

Yeah, Rayleigh is Roger's first mate, so it would be a nice parallel. I mean, it's not like other big-name pirates don't also have scars over their eyes. Look at Shanks. Which brings up another thought - Oda wouldn't have Zoro pretty much become Shanks, missing an arm AND having an eye-scar. Shanks has the market cornered on that look. Zoro needs to be his own character, not a copy of another.

Yeah, no, now that I looked at it again, people need to calm the hell down. That would imply that Zoro is missing THE SAME ARM AS SHANKS and no, Oda is smarter than that. And he does have all three swords so yeah, he wouldn't be able to use santoryuu if he lost one.

I mean granted, I play Geddoe who is missing an eye and still a fucking amazing swordsman, so I know Zoro is just badass enough that if he was half-blind, he'd train himself to be just as badass if not more with a lack of depth perception. But I kinda hope he didn't hurt it and that's just a scar.
