(For the record, I do not disapprove! I trusted Nolan's casting for the last movie and wasn't disappointed at all. Also, Hathaway looks a lot like Adam Hughes' Selina.)

The rumor I heard is that they might be meshing Bane's character with Hugo Strange, but no idea if that's true.

Selina is half-Hispanic but even the DC writers seem to have forgotten that, so I can't be pissed about it.

i am. i wasn't expecting her to get a mixed casting because there is already a precedent for her being ~white~ in the films and hollywood is always willing to overlook race in female characters before they do with males, so i think it's pretty gross either way.

Well, she's also Italian in some comics so blargh. I prefer the mixed-race origin myself because there isn't enough of that in comics.

Not really, since it's been referenced in the past year and the Latina mother hasn't been mentioned for about ten.

Thing is, though, DC as a whole has the delightful habit of ignoring a lot of Daniel's "canon". So I wouldn't take that as crucial right away.

Idk, I think it's worse that people just brush off that aspect to her, but pour attention over the male characters who get shafted. AS GABBIE MENTIONS, Hollywood seems obsessed and the gender divide is really evident.

It's not even a consistent aspect, which is why I can't get angry over it. It was a detail that was only added in the 90s as far as I know, and never used in any origins outside of her own series that I can recall. It was never even brought up in the most recent series.

But isn't denying material that appeared in her own series worse? Gives me chills, especially given how crucial it is for any character's definition within their own series to be acknowledged. Did v.2 directly contrast any of this?

Also, to be entirely fair, I should point out that the Latina mother was really only mentioned in the "Catwoman's crazy and in jail" storyline when Selina's characterization was horribly butchered. That whole era has pretty much been ignored since (which I'm grateful for aside from the race thing).

Hell, I never even knew that, and I used to be all over Catwoman stuff as a kid.

I should have said "half-Hispanic according to one origin story".
