TODAY'S QUESTION OF THE DAY BROUGHT TO YOU BY EXPLOSIONS

Hey guys let's do that thing where I ask a question about your character's lifestyle and you answer! Sexy, right?

Alright. Well what I'm curious about today is

How does your character sleep? Do they talk in their sleep or something like that? Do they hog the bed or take up as little room as possible? What position do they sleep in? Is there a reason for this behavior? If so, what is it? Do they have a fitful sleep or a restless one? Etc, etc, etc.

and yes this is a pretty mundane question but it could be interesting! And I want to see all your answers!

HAHAHA FIRST.

Shiro: Sleeps curled up in a little fetal ball. He's quiet, no snoring since he doesn't really breathe anyway, and he's a very light sleeper. The smallest touches and sounds will wake him, but he is especially sensitive to changes in temperature.

Hiruma: Alternates between sleeping spread out and curled up, depending on how hard he worked that day. He snores lightly and drools because he can't really keep his mouth closed around those fangs of his. He is a medium sleeper, neither heavy, nor light. Sometimes he's pretty much unwakeable.

Zoroark: Sleeps curled up in her den in central park, silently. She is a fairly light sleeper by necessity except when dreaming. And yes, she has running dreams.

Kara doesn't really sleep, but when she does, it's fitfully and she has a lot of nightmares. The really bad ones activate her heat vision. Sometimes she floats in her sleep, too.

Nami is a light sleeper and generally doesn't move much. She's a side-sleeper.

Jim... starfishes. Unless he's in bed with someone, and then he's a huge cuddler. Big spoon kind of a person. He sleeps like the dead and it takes a lot to wake him up.

I think way too much about stuff like this.

Gemma: Is currently not sleeping much at all! But when she does, she sometimes mumbles things, and sprawls all over the bed unless she's sleeping next to someone. Then she'll just stay in one spot, all comfy and warm.

Nill: Sleeps curled into a little ball. Sometimes her wings flutter in her sleep, but otherwise she doesn't move at all.

Rikku: She just does whatever the fuck she wants when it comes to how much of the mattress she takes up. But you know, considering Santo's size, it usually isn't much. Also, she smiles in her sleep. Always.

Scathach: Doesn't sleep lol. When she pretends, she meditates, but that's all.

Himuro: She curls up under all the blankets. She likes having a lot of pillows on her bed, too, but she only ever uses one. She's a pretty heavy sleeper.

Cynthia: She sprawls out on top of all the covers, or ends up kicking them off. Snores a tiny bit sometimes, but she's a pretty light sleeper. Back home she let some of her Pokemon sleep in her bed.

CURLED UP IN A BALL. Probably on Terry's couch. (the spider one.) And completely silently and still you would think she was dead.

[identity profile] bibliogasm.livejournal.com 2011-03-08 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
Ggio prefers to snuggle up right against his partner and curl into a ball, occasionally stretching out and changing his position. If he's in sunlight, he's all sprawled out, probably in an uncomfortable looking position. If he's not alone, chances are he's not sleeping clothed *cough*, otherwise a shirt and socks (shorts or pants if he's not in bed) would do to cover the parts that get cold the easiest. He sleeps either very lightly or very heavily, and is usually pretty still, as he doesn't dream often.

Lavi is a pretty wild sleeper because he sleeps whenever, wherever he can. With just his head propped on his hand, or sprawled out on a couch/bed/etc. I think he sleeps rather lightly since he has to stay alert for Akuma attacks, or to hear Bookman coming if he nodded off in the middle of reading.

Man this is like one of the things I haven't thought about.

/thinks

Sanji I'm pretty sure we've seen in canon both sleeping quietly/to himself and also sprawled everywhere, so he probably varies depending on how much sleep he needs. At least he isn't an off-the-bed, feet-in-the-air sleeper like Luffy and Usopp seem to be. He does talk in his sleep if he's having a wonderful dream about women.

Alastair's just a lump. Usually sleeps on his side or stomach, and if Kiryu's in bed with him, he's a spooner. Sleeps like a log. Because he's usually up late and doesn't get more than 5 or 6 hours of sleep a night, when he does sleep, he sleeps soundly. And totally sleeps in on the weekends so he can stay up later/go clubbing.

Geddoe is a mercenary and has lived most of his life looking over his shoulder, so he can be a very light sleeper if he feels like he has to stay on his guard. Also survives well taking cat naps here and there when he can, so it isn't unusual to find him out stalking the city at 2 am and then napping at noon. But since he has a secure apartment, now, he's able to let down his guard and just slumber like a beast. And yes, he snores, but only if he's on his back. I just decided this.

YAY FOR QUESTIONS.

Kaylee can get comfy napping pretty much anywhere (she's used to napping in her hammock, which sort of just amounts to... curling up and passing out). But she prefers sleeping in a bed, inherently comfier the better (she isn't too picky, though). Two pillows are nice though one is all right, fluffier the better. Usually she sleeps on her side, switching which side she's on a few times through the night unless she's cuddling someone. If she is sleeping alone, she likes having an extra pillow or even a stuffed animal to hold onto; she doesn't squeeze whoever she's cuddling with if there is someone, but she likes holding on even still. Spooning is, in her opinion, a wonderful activity. She tends to fidget more when she dreams, particularly when she has bad dreams, and she really only has truly bad dreams when something stressful has just gone on in her life. She needs the covers pulled up if she's sleeping alone, though if she's just napping in her hammock she doesn't need a blanket or anything. And as a general rule, unless it's very cold, she tends to sleep in a tank top and shorts or even just her panties. She's used to not taking up too much room, though it's not exactly conscious, more born out of having pretty small beds most of her life.
hexappeal: (dozing off.)

Zee's a sidesleeper and practically hangs off the side of her bed. She likes two pillows and to rest her arm under the top one. When particularly exhausted, she will sleep anywhere, anyway. If she's sleeping beside someone, she is practically on top of them -- she'll throw a leg over them and will place her feet against theirs.

Normally, she tends to get solid chunks of sleep if she isn't very busy (3-6 hours straight), but every now and then she has very vivid nightmares. Usually reoccurring and based on situations she's faced in the past or whatever is worrying her at the moment -- she doesn't get the naked in a classroom or running from whatever dreams.

Also, according to everyone ever since her introduction, lol, she sleeps in lingerie most of the time. Or just underwear and t-shirt.

The average night, Bakura sleeps on his back and sleeps pretty soundly to the point of being slow to truly wake up. This changes when he's had a bad week and has nightmares, which makes his sleep far more restless, and if his cat decides to use him for a pet bed, in which case he moves her and then switches to sleep on his stomach. If he's on his back, he flops a little and takes up more of the bed, if he's on his stomach he tends to curl up. If he's sharing a bed with someone, he pulls in pretty tightly when falling asleep, but will snuggle up to his bedmate in his sleep.

He has stupidly cute pajamas he wears in winter. Summer PJs tend to be an oversized shirt and a pair of almost oversized boxers over his underwear (he's modest and stupidly easily embarrassed)

HAVEN'T INTRO'D YET WHOOP WHOOP but I see Chane as a perfectly still sleeper who is comfortable in any position (side, stomach, back), but an important note is that sometimes she is one of those creepy sleepers that sleeps with their eyes half open.

THINGS TO KNOW

1) Trowa can sleep anywhere, anytime, courtesy of his old lifestyle. When you're used to sleeping in truck cabs, on rocky terrain, in a hotel, in a mech cockpit, on a cot, in a tree, etc., you just don't get picky anymore.
2) That being said, he does appreciate the chance to have a proper (and comfortable) bed nowadays.
3) If on a comfortable bed: one pillow and only one sheet, unless it is cold out, in which case one sheet and one thicker blanket and that's all he requires. If not, well. You take what you can get, really.
4) Trowa will not sleep with his back to a window or a door if he can help it, again because of old training. If he must do so, he will turn his back to whichever one it is more unlikely for people to come in through. If there is someone sleeping there with him, and they are between him and that door/window, he will be all right with turning his back to it, since anyone who manages that feat is someone he trusts dearly to keep him safe anyway.
5) Trowa does not do 'pajamas' or 'nightclothes'. When sleeping in a spot where he is likely to be discovered/have his space invaded, or when in the middle of a dangerous situation, Trowa will sleep with all of that day's clothes on. If all is well and he is around people he really trusts, shoes and socks will come off, and he'll probably untuck his shirt or something like that. If all is well and he is alone/with a partner, he'll sleep in nothing at all.
6) Trowa tends to sleep almost as straight as a board, and, when alone or forced to share space with a friend, will often migrate to the edge of the bed. If someone of a more personal relationship status is present with him, there's a small (but still-present) chance they might successfully get him tangled up limbwise to some degree.
7) Trowa keeps very strange, somewhat short sleeping hours. He is also often up and about while most other people are tucked safely away in bed, and can also go a long while on just scraps of rest. He tends to sleep lightly. Lounging in bed all day is generally never an option, as he dislikes wasting time he could otherwise use to do things, as well as the general boredom factor.
8) He has a lot of fucking nightmares. Awful ones. All the fucking time. You would too, if you'd been through what he has. He tends to quietly cherish the few good dreams he has, since ones with his past coming back to haunt him (and how) are more his nightly fare. But he doesn't make noise, and he doesn't roll around in agitation or talk or anything like that.
9) ALL OF THAT BEING SAID, these rules do not necessarily apply while he is borrowing the benefit of having two forms which make getting to sleep interesting, with the lion form making him prone to crashing out while wearing it and the sabertooth form exhausting him terribly once he's returned to a human body. When he really wants to get away from everything, he will borrow the lion's shape and just conk out in front of a sunny window for as long as he wants, or run around as the sabertooth and come back home to pass out on the bed in uninterrupted sleep. These actions usually require him to have recently been enjoying a long stretch of City life without drama, serious danger, or other things that could make giving in to weaknesses of that sort a threat to his well-being.
10) Yes, his hair is hilariously messy after he wakes up in the morning, and it's adorably fanned-out over his face/pillow while he's sleeping. Make fun of this and you risk pain.

Vivi normally sleeps on his back or side, and tends to not take up much room. He's only a kid anyway, so it's not like he takes up a huge amount. Most of the time he sleeps in his clothes - he's far too used to having to sleep in them and never getting much of a chance to change into something else, so his pyjamas were a new thing for him here.

No matter how he sleeps, though, he always has his hat on.

Stein: Sleeps on his stomach or his back because of the screw, unless he's feeling particularly angsty/depressed/mad in which case he lies on his side or slouched against a wall or some other non-bed surface. He doesn't do a whole lot of sleeping, though, as he suffers from insomnia. He sleeps shirtless with pants.

Hiei: Sleeps sitting up, preferably with his back to something and his front facing out. He prefers to sleep in high places because it gives him a tactical advantage. He sleeps a lot in small chunks and is the world's lightest sleeper--he pretty much wakes up at the drop of a pin. It's a survival reflex. When he's unconscious, though, he a. is the world's deepest sleeper and b. is usually a limp dead weight, which means that he usually ends up flat on his back or slumped over Kuwabara's back because that's who carts him around when he's down for the count. He sleeps in whatever clothes he has on when the mood takes him--he doesn't have a set sleep schedule, anyway.

Leo: Sleeps on his back, doesn't move around a lot. He can also sleep compactly, such as when Hiei fights him for use of the couch. He sleeps in his space spandex because in the future psychics don't believe in pajamas.

Czeslaw: Avoids sleeping on his back because of that whole deal with Fermet, but otherwise can sleep in whatever position the situation calls for, though he prefers to be on his side/stomach in an actual bed. He sheds his coat and sleeps in his untucked shirt/pants although I suppose at some point he'll be buying pajamas now that he has a semi-permanent place of residence.

It's canon that she's a pretty deep sleeper. She also has frequent nightmares, but isn't necessarily restless.

She also wears little to nothing in bed.

[identity profile] broroona.livejournal.com 2011-03-08 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
Baroona, due to his past, curls into the smallest ball imaginable in order to save space since he's used to sleeping in close quarters. His sleeping position is different when he naps (which he does frequently) in which he's normally sitting up or laying on his back, hands behind his head. He's an extremely light sleeper since he's used to people trying to kill him and all that shit. Also he does get a bit of bedhead in the mornings.

Zoro sprawls all over the fucking bed. That bed is his. Normally the sheets are mostly off of him when he wakes up. He sleeps on his back and his stomach depending on which one is more comfy in the moment. And he snores and drools. Most of the time, though, you'll catch him taking naps sitting up and leaning against something. Not snoring but sometimes drooling lightly. And always holding his swords. Always.

Danny hogs the sheets sometimes. Always sleeps on his side, spooning against someone else if they're in bed with him. He snores lightly, and is a pretty heavy sleeper. His sleep patterns a bit off because of how much work he does in the City, but he still manages to get a healthy amount of sleep.

Harley can't sleep in an empty bed. She needs the company of the Joker or Poison Ivy or the hyenas or a plethora of stuffed animals or something. She's a cuddler. What she wears depends on if she's sleeping with somebody or not and the temperature. So it could be negligees, undies, nighties, night-shirts, etc.

She also snores on occasion, but not regularly.

how fitting, since I'm still up working on this midterm. D: ahem. anyway.

Luna: It's not exactly canon, but there's a throwaway line in the HBP film where Luna admits to being an occasional sleepwalker.* Which I think is, well, adorable. Someday, I will do a sleepwalking open post. Midnight hunts for Nargles in the MAC, awwww yeahhhh. Naturally, she's a rather deep sleeper as well and it takes quite a bit to rouse her. Oh, and she moves around constantly. Pity any poor soul who has to share her bed and finds themselves waking up next to her... feet. She cuddles, though, when she isn't kicking you in the face. So there's that.

* Actually, the line is something about wearing her shoes to bed. As a precaution. Because apparently Luna is always prepared. Like Batman. I'm not sure I agree with this specific bit of movie!canon but.... d'awww.

Reilly: He sleeps on his side and fitfully. Chalk it up to those senses of his, or a lifetime chasing down ambulances, but it doesn't take much to wake him. Which sucks for whoever woke him because he's not much of a morning person. Thanks to his high inner temp, he'll sleep without blankets and sheets even in the middle of winter because he hates getting hot and sweaty. also yes this means he sleeps shirtless all the time, okay, let's move on

OOPS FORGOT TO ADD: Both of them have nightmares. Luna's are infrequent but seeing Bella again probably led to a few miserable nights. Reilly's, unfortunately, happen almost every night.

Aww, poor Parkers and their nightmares. :/

[identity profile] incywincyhero.livejournal.com 2011-03-08 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
Peter just ... doesn't sleep very much. He's pretty much on all day from 7 or 8 in the morning to 3-4 every night, sleeps hard, gets up and does it all over again. His circadian rhythms are completely askew; it's not unheard of for him to catch a quick catnap in a web-hammock or some kind of weird, gravity-defying position tucked away in a nook. It does leave him vulnerable, though, so he doesn't do it often. Every once in a while after a particularly rough day he just crashes for 18-24 hours straight.

He sleeps on his front or side, and generally keeps near the edge because he's still subconsciously used to sharing. He goes to sleep fast but wakes up a little slower, unless his spider-sense goes off. He sleeps deeply and doesn't move much but does get have odd dreams and nightmares on a regular basis.

Most of the year he wears plain white boxers or pajama pants to bed, no shirt, with one pillow and just sheets on the bed. In winter he wears a t-shirt and adds a blanket and a space heater.

[identity profile] riprosencrantz.livejournal.com 2011-03-08 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
Quatre
He sleeps in boxers and a t-shirt when alone, which is always these days. He prefers to sleep on his side or almost on his stomach and will subconsciously move close to anything in the bed. Leo regularly takes up the free side of the bed now and he'll lay back-to-back with her with her head resting on his side or calf. The hours when he sleeps change and there are some days - like when the sun is out and people are working - where he'll actually be sleeping due to the fact that he was out all night. He almost sleeps lightly, but could never be as good about it as some of the other Gundam pilots. Has slept in uncomfortable places, but vastly prefers a bed.

Remus
Always on one side or the other, partially curled and with one hand under his head, the other on the ground/bed/whatever. Given how easily clothes can twist around the body when you move during the night, he opts for being in the nude and leaves boxers lying around nearby to be grabbed should he leave the bedroom. He has nightmares 99% of the time and anyone sharing a bed or room with him will probably find themselves woken up on occasion if he makes noise. Extremely light sleeper, he also regularly suffers insomnia due to a desire to not go back to sleep after a nightmare. Or just not being able to sleep. Can sometimes be found during the day dozing on the box seat window on the second floor at Moonybase. When he's home during the middle of the day, anyway. He also sleeps heavily on the day after the full moon.

Spike
He doesn't actually need to sleep, but will just because it does give him a minor energy recharge - though blood is still all but necessary if he doesn't want to look like a walking skeleton. He has trained himself to sleep on his back, especially in an environment where he feels unsafe or threatened. Which is generally everywhere. He'll also do this if he's sharing the bed, though he cuddles - because he is secretly a great, big, squishy romantic - and tends to be the temperature of whatever he's near, so it might not be the most pleasant thing you've been through. He'll sleep in whatever he happens to be wearing at the time. Due to his nature, Spike sleeps, but is still aware of his surroundings and intruders.

Momiji usually sleeps on his side. He really doesn't like sleeping on his stomach. For the most part he stays still, but tends to keep his arms strewn out around him. If he's sleeping with someone he has to be touching them, even if its just a barest tip of a finger. He doesn't cling or cuddle, surprisingly, like he does during his waking hours.Especially if that person might make him transform. He doesn't want to get trapped under anyone or wake up expectantly naked.

He's a more of a medium sleeper, it takes a bit to wake him up but he won't sleep through loud noises either. Once he's awake, he's awake and usually can't go back to sleep. He's also one of those annoying perky people right after waking. Momiji use to sleep in the most girly and adorable of PJs but now sticks to cute printed lounge pants and t-shirts.

Keiko sleeps on her back, and stays very still. She doesn't take up much room, even when sleeping with someone else. She's usually pretty conscious of letting the other person have most of the room and not touching them. She's a light sleeper and gets up much earlier then necessary. She can be kind of grumpy after first waking. She mumbles in her sleep. She usually wears solid colored or non fussy printed PJs.

I ONLY PLAY INSOMNIACS IT SEEMS

Vic rarely gets a full night's sleep, his brain never gives him enough of a break to. A real toss-and-turner. Pretty much the only way he can get it to stop is through meditation, and sometimes he just goes inside instead of trying. He has a better chance of sleeping soundly after he's finished a big case, as long as it was conclusive.
The only sure way to get him to sleep is to hit him in the head. He should by all means try medication, but certain experiences when he was younger have made him afraid of the whole idea.

They say cats are only awake for an average of four hours a day, and while I might contest that, Hank, despite his feline physiology, experiences nearly the opposite. Most days, he's just too busy for it, but he does get a few hours each night, as well as a few quick catnaps throughout the day (one or two between periods, maybe a bit after he gets home, but it never adds up to more than an hour).
His naps are usually while he's sitting down, head nodding down into his chest. When he sleeps each night, he curls into a fluffy not-so-little ball on his bed. :3

If cats are only awake four hours a day, I have four freaks of nature running around my apartment...

Koriand'r varies depending on her mood before going to bed, but she tends to sprawl quite a bit. Even when she's sharing the bed, she doesn't actually give much room, she just... involves the other person in her sprawl. There is cuddling always.

If she's in a deep sleep and dreaming, she's a little restless. She sleeps in the nude.

Ivy doesn't actually get all that much sleep, except in the winter months and then it's difficult to get her out of whatever is her "bed." She has an honest to God mattress in her apartment, but she's just as if not more comfortable sleeping in a bed of leaves or up a tree. Occasionally this is actually how she sleeps.

She's not really comfortable sleeping with another person in the bed, in part because of the toxic skin... Also because she tends to gravitate towards body heat when she's asleep and that's just embarrassing. She's a very light and restless sleeper on most occasions.

Miho sleeps in short fits and bursts and rarely for longer than 2-3 hours. She'll max 7 at most and that's only if she's completely exhausted. She does tend to take a lot of short naps and is an incredibly light sleeper. She can and will sleep everywhere, but Miho prefers Spider!Terry's couch or one of Jason's safe houses. Sometimes she breaks into rooms at the MAC and sleeps there. She sleeps in her clothes because she is a hobo.

Despite being tiny, Miho will take up exactly as much room as she feels like at any given time. You may think there is enough room on that couch for tiny deadly hobo ninja and you, but no, tiny hobo ninja has decided she would much rather have this pillow and that means none for you.
