C&C 2020
Someone call for a dystopian future au? Sometime around 2013 (THIS IS NEW, GUYS, WE'RE JUST SLIDING THE SHIT HITTING THE FAN FORWARD A FEW YEARS OKAY), the government in the City decided that they'd had enough of these superhero antics. There was a nationwide crackdown on metas, requiring registration upon penalty of incarceration. The network was shut down, and many residents were scattered to the winds. There are a few that stayed in touch, however. That's where you come in.
For some of you, this might be from before your time. Not to fear! Since it's a highly flexible splinter universe, there's pretty much no such thing as canon. Retcons abound, either as allowances for contradictory canon information (except for the premise, of course), or even just if the player wants to change something around!
So, use this post as a free-for all. New characters get new projected histories, dropped characters can be said to have come back, and old characters can be reexamined or given more story. On Sunday, an open post will be put up in
cnc2020 proper, so use this time to work out information and pimp this out to players who're eligible but may not see this (you can also ahead and start your own posts in that comm)! Remember, any character that has been played in maingame is automatically good to go.

and we'll just pretend that Bender is so sophisticated that not even Tony can fix him because otherwise Bender doesn't have much of a plot... (I didn't really think this through did I)

After losing his position, he jumped ship from the political scene, and underwent some serious plastic surgery to change his face, so he wouldn't be recognized. With that done, it was easy to recreate a new identity as a natural citizen, and he did it with no trouble. Since then, he's written several books debating the legality of actions against imports and runs the media circuit regularly. His new name is Adrian Maskin.
When he's not on the TV or promotional circuits, he's working on new inventions, things from his head, trying to find a way to get home. He's already built one interdimensional device. Who's to say he can't build another one? Although there's some whispers from other sources that he might be arranging a run for president. People debate about what he does when he's not on TV, since the prolific figure disappears often, but he's actually doing both.

Mara Jade
She's still on the run, and she doesn't want to be, but at least she knows how, that that's kept her alive.
Allison
When the letters started coming, she started following them. It was jarring, at first, for her to see sappy letters in Alex's handwriting, but she wasn't quite as stupid as she looked. Soon enough, she was starting to get into the swing, saving people who needed it, in the costume she'd put together with Alex, but looting in her old costume. She lives a double life, one as a looting villain, the other as an actual hero, and she doesn't know which one she likes better.

Illidan
It wasn't until they came for his church that he found out that something was happening. The government had been watching the church for a while, and they had an idea of what they were up against. Illidan was powerful, very powerful, but a raid of military men with advanced weapons was too much. He killed probably more than he should, but eventually he had to run, and he teleported out to the Himalayas. Now the well is being studied by the government, and Illidan is on the run. That's not wholly new, but without magic to suffuse his every waking moment, he's starting to lose it, hunting down vestiges of it where he can find it, and the demon has cast aside any of his attempts at playing nice, and instead he tracks and hunts down magic like a madman looking for every last little fix. If he can find enough, attain enough power then he can finally go home.

Megamind!
So what does a blue alien do to keep himself safe during a government crackdown? He shifts, and runs. Keeping the old guise of Bernard to make sure he can be safe, Megamind is pretty much about as obnoxious as ever. He hasn't latched onto any other groups, mostly because he's either too thick to find them, or too paranoid that they would be a trap. He knows how villains work, ok.
So while there are laws, something about the city made him snap, and after so many years, he's convinced himself once again that he has to find an ideal to fit. After so many talks with some of the heroes, he realizes that he can work outside of the law, and now he works as a vigilante in the city, only coming out at night, and only under the guise of someone else.
