Imagine a world just like the one in which the City resides, except everything is ever so slightly...off. One degree, one minor shift in reality, that alters everything. Changes lives, destroys cities, sets heroes down the path of villains and vice versa.

This is that world.

In short, this meme is a lead-up to an open RP, much like C&C2020. But unlike that setting, C&C-2 is in the present day on a parallel version of the C&Cverse. The AI Decima operates the Prisoner, which brings in people (the imPrisoned) from worlds that are like that of their counterparts stuck in the C&C setting, but just off by one major change in their personal history.

So, y'know, this is an alternate universe meme with setting fluff basically.

Oh right, and everyone lives in the HIVE. And the City is a smoking nuclear crater. And crime is rampant enough to make the US one gigantic lawless clusterfuck. It's not a pleasant reality if you're not an evil jerk.

NOW THAT I'VE GOT THE SET UP OUT OF THE WAY, go nuts! AU up your characters! Establish how their CR would change when instead of spending three years as a hero stuck in not-New York they spent three years as a supervillain stuck in not-LA. The open RP will be this Saturday so plenty of time for everyone to get around to this!

Tom Riddle aka Lord Voldemort

There isn't much that could change with the Horcrux itself (maybe Harry could have gotten it first or kept it) and just "never made the Horcrux" doesn't change much either, so let's go earlier. :)


and this got a little too long so here's the tl;dr version:

-Merope Gaunt lived and raised Tom until she died when he was eleven
-he went off opened the Chamber and made Horcruxes and became Voldemort anyway
-Voldemort actually knew messing with love was freaking dangerous so he didn't try to kill Harry after killing his parents and therefore didn't become spirit-Voldy
-the diary horcrux still ended up at Hogwarts and was working with Voldemort the whole time
-they still want to kill Harry and it was in the plans when diary-Tom got dragged to the HIVE

Tom would thrive in the HIVE, ngl. At first, he would have kept a low profile, but that would have lasted maybe a month. As soon as he figured out he'd be able to get farther by just being himself, it would be hello Lord Voldemort. He wouldn't go out terrorizing anyone just for the fun of it or anything, but he wouldn't be nice, polite, prefect Tom Riddle. Nope.

He'd still keep a few things secret. Like the Horcruxes. And this Tom would have a slight inferiority complex about Voldemort, from being ordered around by him for a year, so that on top of his desire to keep his Horcruxes secret would mean he'd been even less likely to tell anyone he was one. But it's also one reason he's out there being Voldemort instead of pretending not to be.

He wouldn't be keeping his belief that powered individuals should reign over non-powered individuals secret though. And that magic-users should be the elite. There's been a few mysterious deaths and disappearances of civilians who think otherwise since he showed up.
