Natives to this place? I don't think so. But an Import on the other hand, I wouldn't be surprised if they had such a device. Or if that was their ability to begin with.

So any technology brought in from another period should still be functional, assuming it wasn't damaged on the trip? [The question is more rhetorical than anything. As though he's trying to puzzle it out.] Gotcha. So my VISOR problems must have something to do with the phasing of the transporter itself. When we use conventional transporters it's just disassembling and reassembling molecules in a particular order, but I guess when you throw time and dimensional switches into it, I can see how everything gets thrown off.

Speaking of the natives, what's the general attitude about people coming and going through that thing? Is there any concern for timeline contamination, or have they just not addressed it?

I don't really know. I do know that if you weren't human...or humanish...organic? Bah! Let's just say robots or really inorganic lifeform for that matter that comes through the portal ends up organic. So in a sense, no not all technology remains functional.
