You're in what used to be Exorcist headquarters. (The clean up is taking forever. Dead humans whose forms have been taken over by the skulls turn to sand after they perish, the dead who were crushed, blown up or simply just disintegrated. Moaning, wailing - it's all war. Cross, however, seems rather nonchalant about it all. But, that's because he's just used to it or very cold. Or both.)
