What's your character's sense of humor like? Do they even have one? What do they find funny? Is there anything that really makes them lose their shit in riotous tears?

And the RPing aspect: is it easy or difficult to write/convey their sense of humor? Do you share it or is it at odds with yours?

Bender likes to laugh at misfortune and causing misfortune through evil deeds. He also takes childlike glee in bad puns, yo' mamma jokes and the 'pull my finger' routine, as well as childish pranks (although bonus points if the childish pranks lead to extreme misfortune). Essentially, he's a sadist toddler in terms of humour. It's really far too easy to portray his sense of humour. It is probably a bad sign that I don't find it difficult.

Shirley will giggle when anything resembling flirting is thrown in her direction, but she will also laugh at her friends when they say something particularly stupid ("I lived in New York, Troy, I know what a baggel is.") She also finds bad movies hilarious, as evidenced by Van Wilder 2: The Rise of Taj (but she draws the line at Adam Sandler).

Ladd finds violence funny, and himself funny. The two combined are comic gold. He likes to take cheap potshots and make fun of people whilst he's killing them, but he'll also find anyone saying something pathetic and cowardly hilarious. He can find other people amusing and will probably offer a laugh or two, but it's only himself that's really funny.

Daria practically never laughs, but she does find things funny in a very wry way. It's sarcasm and wordplay that she really appreciates, as well as the opportunity to be sarcastic with someone else. Her humour is pretty much the basis of the character, so being sarcastic and rude just flows out naturally.

NO OKAY Lust actually does have a sense of humor, after a fashion! It's just... minimal and this is the only actual example of her laughing at something or making a joke that I can remember that isn't AHAHAHA I'VE STILL GOT A LOT MORE DEATHS BEFORE YOU KILL ME ROY MUSTANG!!!!!!! ARM FALLS OFF. She's got a sort of sarcastic edge thing going on? But she's not the kind of person who'll ever bust up laughing at anything. It's more of a muted smugdouche chuckle, usually at someone else's expense, and when she actually finds something funny she's more likely to just smirk like the asshole she is. There are definitely things that amuse her, but those aren't jokes... those are genocide................

CHELL'S SENSE OF HUMOUR IS NONEXISTANT. She's the "straight man" of her world so if anything she's just really deadpan and line facing all over the place at the ridiculousness of her situation.

In the City she does have moments, but mostly it's dark and doesn't make any sense because it's only funny to her. And it's not necessarily funny it's more...amusement. She likes that her constant silence makes some people squirm and...that's really it.

Oooh.

Jon mainly laughs at the suffering of others, and at snooty things like William Congreve and P.G. Wodehouse and Jonathan Swift. And he usually finds doing what he does on one of his sprees hella funny.

Ghost's laughing is kind of unenthusiastic and his hehs rarely match up to what's going on (I think he thought Paladin's sword injury was kind of funny), and seem to be closer to a paranoid schizophrenic's inappropriate expression than actual amusement. And he makes Flintstones jokes.

Piper's sense of humor is pretty sarky but fond when he's with his friends, and leaps to genuine trolling at points (like when he came out to Wally in the most in-your-face and pseudo-innocent way ever) and the way he constantly goes after rich blueblood types with snippy jokes about them being unable to afford golf courses and crying out in the snow.

Somehow Piper is the most vicious how did that happen.

A lot of the time he'll end up being the straight-man in a group, but I think Tony takes a lot of shit not-very-seriously. He'll go with potshots at people and likes sarcastic and/or crude senses of humor. He's also prone to think that people who are really #justiceboner or naive are kind of funny, kind of stupid. On the other hand, though they don't offend him, he doesn't see the humor in weird overly-sadistic jokes.

as for playing them: dunno if anyone else has this issue but i'm not a really funny person, so it's hard to write witty one-liners :C

Isabela does have a sense of humour.

Usually it's a horrendously dirty sense of humour, and the more uncomfortable it makes someone, the better. Her humour stems from not taking anything all too seriously, getting along best with Varric and "Purple/Sarcastic/Sassy" Hawke who are in the same vein. She also likes twisting thing around making it seem like she's insinuating something but at the very end change it so she can simply have a laugh at the anticipation the other person has. G_d I really suck at explaining this uh...

SHE JUST LIKES MAKING QUIPS AND JOKES sometimes it's dark humour, sometimes it's light humour, othertimes it's cheesy, and majority of the time it's rift with sexual innuendos. She loves laughing and having a good time, and tries to make most situations she's in humourous.

GWEN is very fond of sarcasm and snarky remarks. If that weren't already obvious. She's also pretty fond of the teenager-ish type of dirty humor? Like she's one of the only ones to make overt sexual jokes in the series and looks pretty damn amused when she makes a joke about Peter having phone sex and then... makes fun of his boxers... But she doesn't do that as often as she does the snark. Basically giving people shit is her thing. And she's come to appreciate some of Peter and Jess' geeky humor even if she doesn't understand it all the time and will probably call them a nerd if they break out with a science joke. Also, she and Carol are the ones who are the most likely to have a darker and more morbid slant to their sense of humor at times.

CAROL is generally more fond of things like plays on words or long, story jokes than one-liners unless they're really clever. That and teasing people, though she's not as good at it or as sarcastic about it as Gwen. Unless Clint is involved. She's also got an appreciation for really, really raunchy jokes though it doesn't come out often. She's not the type to quip (in fact she's kind of terrible at it) but she's probably done the whole making a really terrible and somewhat dark joke in the middle of a shitty situation. I can't remember if she's ever done this in canon but it fits her personality and considering her past with the military/CIA there had to be some way to keep spirits somewhat light in really awful situations. That's the reasoning she gives for callsigns being what they are, so I think that'd be something that she's at least used to and I lost where I was going with this.

KARA likes geek jokes. Specifically math and science jokes. She's not as bantery as the other two, though with people she's close with she can get a good back and forth going. When she's in a good mood she can get pretty quippy!! Which is really hard to write because I am not very funny. But that also has more of a chance of happening in a fight than just a normal talk. Uh... outside of the geek jokes she's pretty much got the standard teenage hero sense of humor half because she's sort of realized oh that's what Earth people find funny and half because she actually does find some of it funny.

Pink has a very weird, dry sense of humour.

He grimaces then laughs at dead baby jokes. While he knows a number of racist jokes, he doesn't jump at the bit to whip them out, though he'll laugh and join in if the conversation goes that way, and sees no problem with this. He picked up and enjoyed occasional underground comics, back in the day (...things I know almost nothing about, but should...), and frigging loves Monty Python. (IRL, the band Pink Floyd used money from sales of Dark Side of the Moon to fund the making of the Holy Grail.) In the City, he's discovered and is delighted by Cyriak, Jerkcity, and Achewood, among others.

He also finds derives too much amusement from digging up weird pictures of David Bowie and sending them to Ziggy. Sorry, Ziggy.

ok ill actually answer thsi

Jess is Peter Parker. so everything is funny or a joke. but the interesting thing is that shes less likely to crack jokes than he is, especially in costume, and hers are more often than not, one-line zingers. her humor is definitely self-deprecating at times, or just weird pop cultures references to everything... but for the most part, she tends not to joke as much as Peter, but her humor is definitely, pre much the same. BEING A CLONE REALLY HELPS YOU GUYS

this page is a pre good example actually

Rose does not really do humor... like... shes canonly known for not really making the prankster meter. not even a blip on it. shes just... lmfao not funny. the closest she does to humor is dry sarcasm and.... more sarcasm. and im too lazy to elaborate on her leave me alone

Shulkie is hilarious. she is always hilarious. that is her thing. being hilarious. (STARES AT KATHYRN IMMONEN) she quips, she cracks jokes, she makes references. her humor can jump from one end of the spectrum to another but she is hilarious and you cant make me look up references because i wont just read anything shes in.

Namora has no sense of humor. at all. zilch. this has not always been like that though!! she was apparently a huge prankster as a child, but you know, after everything went grimdark, she lost that. anyways, the fact that she rarely smiles pre much adds to her... no sense of humor thing. theres only been about two times shes really smiled in regards to a joke, let alone making one, while not being almost married to Namor

the one time she was getting teased by the elders and then uh

this gem............ where she probably... wasnt joking...................

Tobias can be funny!!! hes funny a lot of the times!! but his humor differs from Marco, the jokester of the team. instead, Tobias cracks sarcasm. sarcasm is his thing. dry wit, dry humor, sarcasm. hes really good-natured at least and generally takes well to most joke anyways.

Mindys joking has to do with dicks, butts, and you being a moron. her jokes will also double as insults, such as her line about the whole, dick signal in the sky. shes rare to crack a smile when she jokes thuogh, so its often difficult to tell when she is.... if at all. but yeah theyre all crude humor and gross. oh yeah and she also finds pain in other people hilarious what an awful girl

Death likes jokes!!! but she rarely makes any of her own. while shes friendly and good nature and has a great sense of humor, shes rare to actually crack a joke or quick. whether thats because shes not good at it or simply because shed rather leave it to other people is unknown... but she has an awesome sense of humor and will laugh at pretty much anything, when its appropriate.

OKAY WAIT I CAN DO THIS FOR REAL razzin frazzin laptop

MONSTER is a very comedic relief focused character, but it's not something he does intentionally! He does have a sense of humour (a kinda childish one) and will giggle and laugh at things. But a lot of the humour is more meta and situational! And I really enjoy writing that sort of naive situational humour where he's completely unaware he's said something weird or funny. (he also doesn't PARTICULARLY like when people make fun of him |: , but he's also a cheerful sort so he laughs easily - although not as much as you might assume. )

NEGOTIATOR doesn't know what a sense of humour is (OKAY FINE he will snark, so he can be very wry at times, but he's not a really jokey character)

CAPTAIN COLD doesn't pull pranks or anything like that (seriously, that's trickster's job), but he does have a sort of subtle sense of humour. That and jabs. He'll take the occasional potshot at someone, but it'll be a bit... under the surface? HE CAN BE A BIT OF AN ASSHOLE...

I'm still working out PHERSON's humour, but he uh, what he finds amusing isn't necessarily what anybody else would... he's kinda a weird douche...

CALENDAR MAN what

wait no, what?

(he takes April Fool's seriously :|)

(though he can be amused a lot, he's more subtle with that kinda thing - and it usually has to do with some sort of personal joke to do with the calendar or how people react to him sometimes idk)

Sanji has a very healthy sense of humor, to go with the rest of the gamut of wild emotions he has and switches between in a snap. He mostly likes to tease his friends, flirt, and make witty comments. He doesn't like jokes or puns (BROOK) but funny pictures, funny situations, and slapstick definitely make him laugh. He lost his shit at Zoro thanks to a healthy dose of irony/instant karma. And yes schadenfreude, that gets him too. He doesn't belly-laugh very often in daily dealings but parties get him going like no other. Usually if he finds something funny, he'll chuckle a bit, but the big laughs only come out when he's partying and/or in a stupidly excellent mood. Or one of his crewmates does something really embarrassing. See icon.

Alastair is mostly into sarcasm and witty retorts. Snappy comments and comebacks. He really detests stupid humor and slapstick. Also mocking his enemies/rivals brings him great pleasure.

Geddoe does not have a very good sense of humor. He has a very dry wit and is more prone to gallows humor than anything else. Most attempts at making him laugh will fall very short. He's grouchy in general, you'd have to get on his good side first and then say something snappy to get him to smirk. Jokes, pranks, LOLcats, none of it will work on him. He's just humorless about 80% of the time.

It's complicated!

Astral is a funny character, but he kinda... lacks a sense of humor. Sure, he's venomous in his retorts toward Yuma and they are hilarious! But it's not on purpose to be funny. Like I said, complicated! Poop jokes are like ZEXAL's bread and butter though.

He's difficult to write because I have to strike that very particular medium between sarcasm and having his head in the clouds and still be hilarious. Like, the main writer has a tendency to go overboard writing sarcastic dialogue. Guest writers tend to flanderize him, having him act too silly.

anyway

CLINT is supposed to be funny!! He likes sarcasm and corny jokes and pointing out the obvious in battle like it's hilarious. He also has all of the taste of a 13-year-old boy.

DONNA's sense of humor gravitates between goofy and classy. She has a certain level of taste, and calls people out for making offensive jokes!! But she does like having a good time. Jokes at other people's expense are no bueno, though.

DAMIAN thinks pain is funny. And also making fun of people. And basically he is a bit of a sadist.

Gesicht, uh, isn't exactly the sort to crack up. I don't think he's really built like that. Though he does have a tendency for the occasional subtle one-liner. Like, uh, the scene this icon's from. Basically:

Gesicht: Yes.
