THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES

Three years from now, whatever all the imPorts were called in for has been solved. The porter, in either a cruel motion or out of kindness, gives the imports a 72 hours before sending them back. It's not much time, or maybe too much, depending on the character. How are you going to spend the last time you have in the City? Maybe say goodbye to all of your friends, or finally get what you want out of it all? Will you conclude your relationship, or will things be left unsaid before you're ported out?

(he doesn't want to go back. for the first time, it felt like he had a family. it just seems so lonely when he returns. even though he's so old, he just can't let go of her.)

It shouldn't have to be like this. They should stay here, in this house. He'll keep going to school. College. Become a doctor or a lawyer or, if she has anything to do with it, something silly and frivolous and low in stress.]

(not that he doesn't want to return to being emperor, but why could he not have this dream last a little longer? he liked waking up to her every morning, making her tea, joking and being embarrassed by her and james. he had friends, he was carefree and when he returned he would have -

everything everyone ever wanted, save zatanna and the others. he just holds onto her, crying his eyes out on her shoulder, unable to quite understand why he was doing this. maybe it was because he never had time to mourn for gramis, drace, vayne and gabranth and this time he had to make the hard choice of letting go.)

[She knows that he has obligations. It has been brought up before when they've discussed the dreaded port-outs. What to do if it was her, what to do if it was him. Mostly her. Never this sort of situation. Never everyone goes home and is aware of it. Never with the thought of a proper good-bye.

She gives him a hard squeeze. There's nothing she can do or say to make this better. She's sure of it. Still, she has to try. She's the parent here, right?] You should come back with me.

I cannot, no matter how much I want to. My country and my people need me to steer them. (he says it without hesitation, but it hurts himself so much to. he doesn't want to be without her, she's far too dear but - he cannot.)

[How can she tell him no? She can't look him in the eyes and tell him that. She just can't. Zatanna turns away from him, feeling like a coward. She's supposed to be the adult here. She's the one meant to sacrifice for the child. And she wants to. So very badly.]

[Though her eyes are glassy, she still laughs, sliding a hand over her mouth, then the side of her face.]

[She holds out her hand, sliding her fingers over the side of his face, then delicately settling on his forehead. The area around her hand begins to let off a dull glow.] Reven tegrof.

[She puts forth all of her magic into weaving this spell around him, inside of him. Even if it leaves her violently ill, it will be worth it. She gives it a moment before letting her hand fall to her side.]

(it's worth it, but he wants to give her something that she'll never forget. he takes off his prized ruby earrings, putting them in her hands.)

Larsa, I-- [Shit, she must have something. (She doesn't correct him on the pronunciation because it's difficult; and she's beyond impressed. How could she even...)

Failing to find anything truly worth while, she removes her top hat and gives it a flip, holding it out to him.] This one came with me from home, you know.

You gave me a home. I could not take this from you. (oh if only he could show her how to do a magic trick. He gives her a small snort before putting it on.)

I shall have to start a new style in the Empire.

Oh, it's just a hat. I've got hundreds more in my closet back home. This is just the only one of them that I was wearing when I first came here.
