THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES

Three years from now, whatever all the imPorts were called in for has been solved. The porter, in either a cruel motion or out of kindness, gives the imports a 72 hours before sending them back. It's not much time, or maybe too much, depending on the character. How are you going to spend the last time you have in the City? Maybe say goodbye to all of your friends, or finally get what you want out of it all? Will you conclude your relationship, or will things be left unsaid before you're ported out?

[Greg smiles but it doesn't reach his eyes.]

It's not going to matter though, is it? We won't remember any of it.

I'll remember it for the next three days.

[Greg isn't about to sit by because he won't remember anymore.]

[John's lips quirk into a tiny smile. Damn you, Greg.]

I just wanted to say. It wasn't your fault.

[Bother you, John. Greg was trying to forget about that.]

Yours neither, then. Sherlock's a big boy. [He can take responsibility for his own actions.]

No, Greg- listen to me, alright? It's important. I know it wasn't my fault. [He could just have... done a better job, that's all.] And it wasn't yours either.

[He sighs and just looks at John for a while, trying to decide how to respond to this. He knows that whatever led Sherlock to do what he did isn't something easily explained.

And you're terrible, John Watson. [But it's said with an affectionate grin.]

Yeah. Just think, in three days we'll have forgotten everything we every learned about the bloody awful sport of American Football.

[He grins back, relaxing. All done. Finished.] Thank God for small mercies.

I could use it, what with all the paperwork I'm going to have to do before then.

Is anyone actually going to work the next three days?

Probably not- which'll mean the cops'll get called twice as much.

Besides, I need to make sure whoever's going to replace me knows what they're doing. [Greg might have been promoted or something in the last three years...]
