[ her tone, by contrast, is a bit flat, betraying her annoyance in the darkness. ]
I am open to your suggestions for a solution.
no subject
Well, uh... trying to break it down obviously isn't gonna work, but. [ he gesticulates, helplessly. ]
I might have an idea what we're supposed to do. Just. Uh. Do you trust me?
no subject
At the moment, I suppose I have little choice.
no subject
no way to do this that isn't awkward, so he goes in for the kill, cracked lips pressing against hers. at worst, he can expect a punch to the solar plexus and another possible avenue of escape eliminated. ]

instinctively, her hands fist tight in his clothes. it's conscious restraint that prevents violence. and it isn't even so much that she's never been kissed before so much as she's almost never been kissed in this body. it's strange and it makes her eyebrows furrow. finally, after a beat or two, she tilts her head just slightly away to remark a bit pointedly: ]
I fail to see what is to be gained by this.
no subject
so he sighs, and offers the explanation, forgetting that his thumb is still brushing danger's cheek. ]
There's this stupid party game -- mostly teenagers play it -- where you lock a couple of people in a closet for seven minutes. [ it's been a hell of a lot longer than seven minutes. ]
S'called 'seven minutes in heaven' -- it's a joke, see? 'Cause what you're supposed to do is kiss each other until the time's up.
no subject
My sense of humor is obviously not developed enough to decipher the joke behind usage of the word "heaven" while we are trapped inside a closet.
[ a light beat, then she consciously lets go of his clothes. ]
It has been over seven minutes. We did kiss. The door did not open, so clearly we have misstepped somewhere.

[ danger's never been a teenager, as far as he's aware, so she probably can't relate. after a moment, he lets his hand drop. ]
Anyway, that's it for the ideas I've got.
no subject
[ she eyes him, her attention only wavering slightly when his hand drops from her face. finally, she reaches for him again, drawing him back towards her with a pensive sort of expression. ]
Allow me to attempt again.
no subject
Okay?
no subject
only to stop, inches from his face. pausing, she asks lowly: ]
You seem uncertain. Do you not want me to?
no subject
Uh, I don't usually do this kind of thing without a first date. [ hastily, lest offense be taken: ] Not that there's anything wrong with you, I'm just-- a prude, I guess.
[ a fuck-up, he wants to say, but no need to expose her to his issues any more than he has to. ]
If you think it's worth a shot, go for it.
no subject
[ she responds a bit pointedly, but not unkindly-- like at the very least, she's trying to take his feelings into consideration no matter how illogical and impractical she finds them to be, even with that skepticism lingering in her tone. ]
And I do not wish to make you any more uncomfortable than I am certain I already have.
no subject
Trust me, if you wanna see uncomfortable, that'll be when I have to take a piss in front of you. [ what the fuck was that, rick
bradbury? no seriously, what the fuck?
to stave off any more embarrassing attempts at making this less awkward, he leans in to just kiss her, mouth awkward but earnest in the dark. ]
no subject
she stills first, caught off guard for what seems like eternity in a moment before finally, she responds, tilting her head to better the fit of their mouths before pressing back. robot or no, she's warm and real like this, her lips surprisingly pliant against his. ]
no subject
shit, and thinking about a girl's boyfriend-who-isn't-here is probably the last thing he should be doing right now, so he wrenches his mind away from it and concentrates on the warm body under his lips and under his hands. if he shuts his eyes, he can forget about how alien she is for a while, just treat her like he would any other girl on her first time.
he presses a little harder, lips slightly parted, and his fingers tighten into her hips, waiting for a cue about what exactly he's supposed to be doing here -- because she'd said to allow her to try again, instead of him taking the lead. ]
no subject
but she's soft and as human-like as she'll ever be right now, so it's instinct that wins over logic, and her kiss becomes exploratory first, then bold-- and perhaps without entirely meaning to, she catches her teeth on his lower lip, biting. ]
no subject
he goes along with it, though, taking a breath before moving close again, letting her know he's just fine. ]
no subject
she lifts one hand to brush her thumb over his lower lip where she bit him before leaning in again, trying the opposite, kissing him soft instead of hard, with the sort of controlled gentleness a machine just shouldn't have. ]
no subject
if anything, it's a relief that she doesn't seem to care, at least not in the way a human would. it's somehow less embarrassing.
he's probably getting too bold for his own good, here, but after a moment, he responds by letting the tip of his tongue run along her bottom lip -- a motion almost as controlled as her own, and then it's gone. ]
no subject
it's mimicry, maybe, or curious when she lets her tongue dip just past his lips, catching smooth teeth before she leans away, speaking quietly but steadily: ]
Perhaps that was sufficient.
no subject
Hold on, lemme see.
[ when he turns to push at the door, he doesn't know whether to be disappointed or relieved that it swings out so easily. ]
no subject
at length, a bit unreadably: ]
Your assistance is appreciated. Thank you.
[ as if they hadn't just kissed their way out of a closet at all. ]
no subject
[ it takes him a bit for his brain to catch up with how that sounds. ]
I mean--
no subject
maybe it's her idea of a joke to respond the way that she does. ]
Perhaps without the closet, in the future.
